Okay - for all of you out there that have actually driven in Europe (and I don't mean on the main highways) you totally understand! Brigit - I get what you were trying to tell me now!
We headed into Brugge town today (only took us about an hour to go 15 min drive, and thats with GPS!) -it's those one way streets, 2 way streets that should (and would be in NZ) 1 way only, and then there are the 3 lane roads... only thing we can figure is the biggest vehicle gets right of way! Oh yeah, and then you have to watch out for cycles, motorbikes, and trams!!! It's a wonder we haven't had heart attacks yet!
Brugge was cute, but everyone is right! If you are going past and can spare 2 hours - thats enough. Had some yum chocolate though, and have stashed chocolate fudge for when the kids are in bed!
Then decided to be brave and head over to Zeebrugge on the coast - turns out its purely a shipping port -woops! So kept going and ended up in Blackenbergs, which is a tourist city, with a huge beach - very windy though - worked out whay they had little sheds covering half the beach, and all the restaurants in the side facing away from the beach, after 5 minutes in that wind!
Made it safetly back to camp, and decided to play some frisbee with the kids - got looked at very strangely so either we were really really bad or they had no idea what we were playing...
Oh yeah - we also have these really flash bright red tourist plates for the car - think its so everyone knows to pull over and stop - sort of like a fire engine!
Anyway - off back to have another beer, and cook dinner. We are off to Paris tomorrow, so not sure when we will blog again - may be another week as will be doing the tour thing and giong to Euro Disney. Its Harrison's 8th birthday in 2 days time...
