Hi everyone
Sorry for being so quite! I know you all miss my talking! While we have had access to computers, it is always when we are out and about - much as we love you all we were not going to stay at camp to update you all!
Today we are in Brugge, and are heading into Brugge today to explore, but as internet is free here thought we would provide a quick update for you all.
1 May (Hong Kong)
Went to visit The Peak today (actually I piked due to lack of thrill when up high!) - this is the highest point in Hong Kong. The Peak Tram that runs down to the city is soo steep, the seats are all backwards and the floor is specially slopped to enable people to stand without falling over! I did a spot of shopping and wandered through the Hong Kong Gardens.
Today is a public holiday in Hong Kong - so no maid again! Life is very hard when you have no maid (I am sure your hearts are bleeding for us!).
2 May (Hong Kong)
Today was another trying time for Caro - Hong Kong is heights heights heights anyway - but Ocean Park is another story! You have a choice if masses of huge high escalators, or a gondala - this is soo high even Chris had second thoughts! Was an awesome day though, with cousin Matt braving a wicked rollercoaster and getting a sore stomach for his troubles!
Collest parts were stroking the sting rays, and the massive rock pool viewable from multiple levels - sharks, morays, every fish imaginable.
A night out for the adults tonight (yah - maid back on board!) - went to Thai place - very yummy!
3 May (Hong Kong)
Not much today - visited Ladies Market and back to Hong Kong Gardens.
4th May (Hong Kong - London)
Left for London today - nearly didn't make it as Greg's car broke down - long story but managed to get a cab after Chris running half way around Kowloon, anf then strapped the boot closed and broke land speed record to make the airport in time. Long flight - kids great though.
5th May (London)
Quite day to recover today - visited nearby Richmond Park (10 min walk) to see the Queen's deer! Really cool park. Then felt the need to aclimatise properly and headed to a true English pub, where we spent the afternoon (actually 2 pubs). The boys were instant hits with the local kids as they had their Nintendo DS Lites...
6th May (London)
Oh - haven't mentioned the weater yet have I! Blue sky, hot (25+), and no wind. Has been like that since we arrived in London, and still is today as I am writing this (13th May). Very unseasonable but we are not complaining!
We did the tourist thing today, and went on an all day double decker tour around London. Got to see the changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace, Tower of London (that actually isn't a tower?), London bridge, etc. Had another great day! Also took a ferry ride down the river Thames.
7th May (London)
Today was for the boys - Natural History Museum and the Science Museum - these are free and really awesome! \the robotic T-Rex at the natural History museum was so life like we kept expecting it to chase us any minute!
8th May (London)
Squirrel feeding in Kensington Parl, then the boys headed off to the Wetlands centre with Robyn, while Chris and I went to Harrods! Oh my goodness - the smell of money! A remote control ride on Hummer was only 15,000 pounds! Could only afford some marshmallows (8 NZD) - never mind!
9th May (4 countries in one day!!!)
Today was the big day - Europe! \caught the Eurostar to Calais, then picked up the car and headed through Belgium (where we got lost trying to find something to eat), then on up to Holland and Wassennar.
Camp ground is awesome! Has its own theme park and water complex, which is free for campers!
10th May (Wassenaar!)
Spent the day at the theme park today - was amazing - still can't believe we didn't have to pay anything - is about 60 euro per person to get in normally!
11th May (Amsterdam)
oh my goodness! All I can say is make sure you have heaps of coins with you, and proper directions. Finally made it to Amsterdam around 1pm, jumped on a canal boat tour (which was very cool), and then headed to a pub to recover! Amswerdam good but def couldn't live here!
12th May (Brugge)
Heaed to Brugge via Kinderdicjk Windmills - they are v cool - got to go inside and look at how small there living quarters were - Harry not impressed, Oscar wanted to stay an dlive there! Uneventful drove to brugge, to discover public holiday so no food - yah - McD's for dinner.
13th May - (today)
Must fly - limited time on net - will try to write more later - very basic I know but chances few and far between!
