So, we arrived in Bruges last night in the POURING and I mean POURING rain!! What a welcome! the flight from edinburgh was only an hour and a bit but we then had to get a bus into the city which was an hour, and then a train from the city of brussels to Bruges which was just over another hour! So even though it was a short flight it took a fair while to get into Bruges! Thankfully I have my brand spanking new amaizng kindle that just kept me engrossed the whole time - so much so it was annoying when we had to get off our current mode of transport and change cos I had to put the kindle down! What a geek! :P

Anywho, we arrived into Bruges in the wet darkness and stood in the rain for a while trying to work out the public bus system, gave up and hailed a cab! Muuuch more sensible! 😊 Cab dropped us infront of a block of houses along the river - one of which was our lil B&B! So cute and lovely owners which was nice! We dropped off our stuff, changed into warm clothes and went out to grab some dinner! And so the eating up a storm in Bruges, started! Meat and more meat on a stick! From a pub with 400 flavours of beer!!! Including girlie flavours so I had a citrus one which was pretty nice actually and I cant stand beer!! Yum yum! Think ill be sorted this weekend 😊

So this am we woke after having a really cosy good sleep and headed down to the lounge to be served croissants and cereal for breakie which was pretty nice! It was still pouring with rain - joy! And naturally once again we forgot to pack our umbrella! So hoods up we started off down the road to meet Chris and Vicki - two of Bens friends from London. After one false alarm where Ben thought another couple was them, we found them and started off towards the closest souvineer shop to buy umbrellas! Cos we have so many in our flat now we decided to get a Kermit coloured bright green one which was great! So we used it and walked about 5 steps to a waffle house and all ordered hot drinks and decided to catch up and wait out the rain seeing as though bens trusty iph told us the sun would come out at 12pm. And after an hour of gossiping we look outside and yep at 11.45am the rain has stopped and sun has started coming out! So the umbrella came in handy for 5 steps! 😊

Chris decided to take us on a tour he made up as he went along so we followed him as he told us a load of rubbish about all diff things in Bruges - totally made up! But some sounded plausible! It turned into a lovely yet cold day and Bruges is just a beautiful lil town. So touristy but gorgeous lil coloured houses and the river through the city is really pretty! So we joined the tourists and took plenty of pics. We went into the info centre and asked what to do and she drew us a lil tour on the map that chris led us round. Basically we just wandered for hours which was really nice Through the markets and then went on a hunt for the Chocolate Museum! What could be better than that right?!! We were so excited and then very very quickly shattered as we walked UP many flights of stairs with education about cocoa beans on every level including a priceless poster saying that choclate was good for you - see pic below!!! Where was the bloody chocolate factory with wonka and taste testing! We started smelling chocolate so Vicki and I raced ahead to watch a 5 min display of putting hazelnut into Choc cases and got given 1 chocolate! For anyone reading this that is thinking of going to the Chocolate Museum - DONT! Waste of 7euro! We could have bought a few chocs for that price and enjoyed every sec of eating them!

So we decided on beer tasting at the 400 flavour place instead where it was warm! I tried cherry and raspberry both good! Cant believe I was saying beer was good! We decided after a few beers it was time to go and have a nana nap before heading out so we all went backa nd fell asleep for a few hours - def getting old! Then got ready to go out. We had looked up on trip advisor for goos restarants and walked to the 3 we had picked and all we needed to book for - bugger! So we finally ended up in a tapas bar and had the yummiest tapas with really good service! Maybe if I had written this blog 2 months ago when we actually went to Bruges I might actually remember the name of the place! Sorry cant give any insight there! 😊

Good day in Bruges! Such a beautiful lil place!

Great post
Hey, Liked your story on Bruges. Unfortunately it rained... But, apparently you had a good time ! I'm studying to become city guide in Bruges, so I read on what people look for in Bruges. Questions, favorite places,... And for that reason, I started a blog on my experiences. If you have friends coming over, tell them about my blog maybe, there are some nice tips and tricks on it. And you get it from a city guide, what more can you want? http://brugesbyandy.blogspot.be to check it out ! Hope to see you again in Bruges one day ! Greets, Andy B.
