Hello All! I am sorry for the delay on this blog, busy busy busy. So with my European Politics and Society(EPS) class I traveled on a bus for 12 hours to Brussels, Beligum. Brussels is the capital seat of the EU and is where most of the exciting EU political decisions are made. The great thing about the week long tour that my school planned was that I got to visit every major part of the EU and really see how, as my teacher so often puts it, "How the game is played." One of the first academic things we did [View Full Entry]

Yes it is a girls dream. Chocolate, ice cream and waffle shops where ever you turn. We spent 4 days here in Brussels. It was great and we spent a lot of time in the Grand Place which is the main centre square. We pretty much did our own walking tour and saw all the sites. We spent Easter here - possibly the best place to have easter! [View Full Entry]

And then my friends, we arrive in Brussels, Belgium. Capitol of Europe; home of fries and the waffle.... One of my favorite cities in Europe! April 13 Well I actually fell asleep sitting up on the plane ride over from Madrid, for the first time in my life. I normally have a horrible time falling asleep on public transportation, but I was so tired; I only remember take off and landing. We took a bus and a couple metros and found our hostel with little trouble. I was happy to see that the hostel was a little more suited for "youthful [View Full Entry]

Day 72 Well Belgium is now officially my favorite country in Europe. The reason is because everyone i asked for help today was vary nice, even those who did not speak English. I'll go threw my day, which was one of those day that never happen. The one where everything goes right. It started with finding the U.S. cemetery. I had to take a bus about five miles outside of Luxembourg city, where I spent the night. Well it is hard to know which bus stop to get off when riding the bus because the signs, if they have any they [View Full Entry]

Never Forget
Medal of Honor

I could hardly believe it. My final week at the U.S. Mission to the EU had already come. I’ve never known eleven weeks to go by so quickly. I even extended my internship an extra week and it’s already over. After spending the past week doing all the Belgian stuff I hadn’t done yet and visiting all the Belgian towns you have to visit when you go to Belgium, I was ready to focus solely on my work this final week. Even though it was my last week at the Mission, I still had soo much to do! With Joe at [View Full Entry]

Next stop...Brussels. This was a chance for Myron to use his alleged knowledge of French and for me to use my well-publicized "basic french skills". Truth be told, je ne parle pas Francaise and we were no longer in Den Haag where everyone speaks English. Between the two of us, though, we were up to the challenge. There were four things on the agenda for Brussels: Mannekin Pis, a statute I'll tell you more about later, The Grand Place, a huge public square, The Delirium Cafe which is a Guinness World Record holder for the biggest beer list...over 2000 brands, and, [View Full Entry]

Hello Brussels!
Grand Place...yes it is!
Grand Place...no kidding!

When we first arrived in Brussels it was quite dreary and we both had colds from walking around in the cold after Pokke Herrie so we just had a quiet night eating pasta and salad. The next day we went to Mini Europe. We were supposed to go for my birthday but the weather wasn’t looking too promising at all! At home we had watched a series on Channel V called Backpackers which is how we found out about Mini Europe and the boys on the show loved it so we decided to check it out. The name says it all [View Full Entry]

Brussels, Belgium : The city of waffles, fries and chocolate! And "mannekin pis," the famous peeing boy fountain. I don't have much more to say about our trip to Brussels other than that we stuffed ourselves with waffles, fries and chocolate! The Belgian waffles are much more different from the ones in the us: they're crispy with sugar and you can get them topped with strawberries, Nutella, or ice cream! They are also famous for the monstrous portions of fries with a cup of mayonnaise on top like they have in Amsterdam. Auni and I went to the "most famous" french [View Full Entry]
