Bonjour, The Study Tour is now over and I have begun the process of adjusting to life in Brussels, which will be my home for the next 3 months. I packed my bags, checked out of the hotel and began my quest to reach my new home. My metro journey wasn’t that bad, but the escalators at the stop I got of at weren’t working so I had to lug my stuff up the stairs. Now, I’m not saying all Belgians are selfish and inconsiderate, but almost everyone I met that day was. People just wouldn’t let me walk up the [View Full Entry]

Bonjour, I have managed to lose this thing twice, the last one being a truly epic loss, so I apologize for it's lateness. Monday: Once again, we travelled back to Infocentre for another round of talks. I’m sure you’re as sick of hearing about the place as I am in going to it! I don’t think I have provided a description of the pace yet, so now I will attempt to. It is located right in the heart of the EU district across from the Berlaymont building that houses much of the European Commission. On the second floor there are many [View Full Entry]

Monday, May 18, 2009 - Brussels J2 went to Italy on Sunday, and I got a whole day with BAM - so on Monday morning Jean and I hopped the train to Brussels to meet up with them and discover Brussels for the day. We had a great day exploring the city - there was alot of construction going on - and it is a pretty big city! BAM and Josh caught an early train - as the shopping without a nap is never a good idea! Enjoyed the city, and the train ride back to our favorite town of Brugge! [View Full Entry]

So, where was I? Oh, yes, lovely, shitty... Calais I got off the ferry and started looking for a place to exchange my money. Now, I had all of thirty pounds, which isn't bad, but doesn't help when you're in fucking France. After a long, fruitless search, I gave up and walked into town. Once there, I resumed my search and finally found a bank. Which was closed. And so I walked around a bit more. Now, keep in mind that I essentially hadn't slept more than the two hours on the ferry since I left London two days earlier. This [View Full Entry]

Hi again everyone, Things are going really well here, and Marc is settling into his job. He has been working long, long days and is quite busy so he had to hit the ground running. He has been in lots of meetings with people of so many nationalities (French, Dutch, Brits, etc...) that his meetings with only the Japanese are looking like a piece of cake! Still, he seems to really be enjoying it and one cannot ask for more than that. The arrangements for our move to our new apartment are moving along, though not without little hiccups. The moving [View Full Entry]

Dream come true!

Potpuno neocekivano. A z [View Full Entry]

Bonjour, The study tour has started, and here is the rundown for the past couple of days. A refresher for those of you who don't know or simply ignored them when I told them, the study tour is a trip to the 4 main EU cities (Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Frankfurt Main) with seminars, discussions, lectures and high level meetings with representatives, civil servants, advisors and politicians. Sunday: We had our first seminar on the study tour on the top floor of the Citadines Hotel in Brussels where we stay when we are in the city. The room was hotter than [View Full Entry]

Bonjour or Hallo (depending on whether your Wallonian or Flemish), I finished packing this morning and then I got a ride out to the airport where I had 3 hours to kill before my flight took off. The Canucks games was on, but it was only playing on 3 small tvs in the Milestones that they have inside the airport. I didn't want to pay for a drink ($6 hello!?!?!?!?) so I sat on the regualr chairs outside the bar. I was just getting comfortable when "Peter Wright, please come to Gate 71". Oh no, what have I done now!?!?!? I [View Full Entry]
