Wow...where have the days gone? It's been a while since I last wrote. I guess I'll begin back in Dublin which was about two weeks ago. Dublin was the perfect ending to my month in Ireland. Conor and I spent a few days walking around the city which included the Guinness Storehouse tour! Not only did we get a good feel for the city, but we also got a good sampling of some hostels. Bonjour Its been two months since we last blogged and lucky for all of you guys I have pretty much forgotten most of what has gone on over that period so hopefully this will be a short one. Ahh, once again I am stuck with a foreign keyboard that I can't switch to English, so I apologize for any spelling/grammar errors and lack of detail, I may not be very patient with it. Once I arrived in Brussels, Kevin and Claudette drove me around a bit so that I could see a few things. But before I get into that- I was surprised by how much of everything was in English. For those of you who don't know, there is a division in Belgium between the French speaking South and the Dutch speaking north. And there is definitely a divide. Starting Mileage 90,000 Up early for our 10:00 AM ferry to Dunkerkque, set off around half 6 but didn't get far before having to pull over as the sheet holding everything on the roof started to come off so leaving us having to drive a slow pace the whole way to Dover.. Eventually arrived and boarded the ferry which was alright,average ferry horrible breakfast which wasn't helped when i tried the black pudding (smelt like pure ass).. Not The Day We Planned... Staring Mileage 90,142 Woke up to the pouring rain which couldn't be worse when camping, so quickly packed up and left for Ghent, not a long drive from Brugge we arrived around 2, easily parked and took a walk around.. A very similar place to Brugge but not as tourist orientated.. Had a nice lunch in the square and decided to move onto Bruxelles and the Beer Museum.. For hundreds of years people have been arguing about whether to call deep fried pieces of potato chips or french fries. Chips is the english version whilst French Fries is the American. Today you will finally know what to call them................ Neither. Belgium is the home of the deep fried potato and in Belgium they are known as Flemish Fries. Following a predictable route we decided we would head to Brugge for a day trip. After rising at the leisurely time of 9am, we had breakfast at the hotel, and took as much extra pastries and fruit away with us as our bag could comfortably carry. Seems you can't take the backpacker out of us, even on a short weekend away!! We walked to the train station (Brussels Noord again).
