Breakfast I was awake around 7:30am by the sound of farting from my fellow room mates. You can tell they need the release as it has that pressure release sound! 😊
Anyway, I got showered and dressed and headed downstairs for the free tea, coffee and hot chocolate on offer! I was looking forward to that, however, no milk, so settled for a black coffee. It was Ok.
I hadn't yet eaten, so while walking around the town, mI had noticed lots of Belgian waffles shops so settled on having one of those for breakfast. I opted for dark chocolate on the top. I also got a Coke Zero with it too.
WOW! It was soooo good! It was warm, fluffy and some bits chewy. The sauce was warm and runny and, oh, just so heavenly! All I had to eat it with was a small plastic 3 pronged fork...fat lot of good that was! In with the fingers, ripping it apart, chocolate all over the place, my fingers, my hands, around my mouth and it wasn't til later, I realised I had got it on my shirt too! Oops!
Lunchtime I went to the
The famous pissing boy!
This guy is everywhere! Grand Place as i needed to visit the town hall in order for me to pick uo my Brussells card. this entitles me to many discounts, and I am going to us it to its full advantage!
First visit was to a brewery museum and was able to sample a free drink.
After this, I looked through my book to see what else was nearby so proceeded to head to the chocolate museum. Throughout Belgium, you will see lots of chocolate and beer. I mean lots! Every other shop will either sell beer or chocolate. Anyway, after wandering around the museum, sampling all the different stages of cocoa production, we were then shown a small demonstration about how the chocolates are made.
Those Gylian seashell chocolates you see, ever wondered how they get the mixed colour? I know! :P
I decided it was now time to find a pub and try some local beer!
I found the perfect place. Seats outside and the atmosphere felt good. I really wanted to try a fruit flavoured beer, so I went for a Delirium Red. Mmmmm...it was food! That is all! I was looking around to see what
everyone else was drinking, and one guy had a glass cone I a wooden holder. That was €6 though....I didn't plant to pay that! I settled for a Kwak which came in a wooden holder in a yard of ale type glass. Again, it tasted good! With both beers, it came with a small bowl of peanuts too! Fast forward and hour and bit after people watching...
By this time, I was getting more hungry. I didn't want too much, so proceeded to walk around to see what was on offer. During this time, I still had my coke bottle from earlier..I looked at the label to see who I was sharing a coke with, and you wouldn't believe it...it was Fanny! Lol
Anyway, I found a Frites place as I had a coupon for some free sauce! So, I basically had some chips with mayo for lunch!
As it was still kinda early in the day, I decided to see what else there was i could do for today,so decided on going to the MOOF museum. I just had to try and find it!
I walked here, there and everywhere. Saw lots of beggars and
homeless people on my travels. There was a group of guys that had pulled over a green bin full of nearly empty bottles of wine, beer etc. They just helped themselves!
Well, I eventually found what I was looking for and it was awesome!
Loads of small models of characters and their history. I took plenty of pics so won't go into any detail.
It was now time to head back to the hostel as my legs were getting tired. On the way back, I stopped off at the supermarket, picked up some snacks, water and some beer to consume back at the hostel. I am now sitting here, 3 beers down out of 4 and in dire need of some dinner! So, I bid farewell until tomorrow!
