Hey all... finally gettin this blog thing up to date.. so where did i leave off?? sarah and i left last thursday for brussels after deciding greece and dublin were to expensive to get to so we hopped on an hour train out of paris north to brussels. I think so far (keep in mind that ive only been to 4 cities) brussels has been my favorite... Sarah and i are convinced that this rain has been following us whereever we go, but brussels was definitly an awsome city in any weather, plus we got some good sun on thurs afternoon through till friday noonish. The city is much smaller than paris, so it made getting around alot more enjoyable. we learned from our previous experience of wondering the city of paris all day searching for a hostel, and had booked a hostel, checked in, dumped our packs, and were out the door within an hour of arriving.... very impressive i think. anyways, sarah and i basically just wandered the city in search of a good outdoor cafe scene. brussels is made up of about 5 different districts i think, but our favorite was definitley the Saint-Gery/ Dansaert district. This was
the place to go for nightlife and cafes. we basically hung around there most of the time at this cafe called mappamundo... mo, bart, ac, copp im sure you guys went there... real deece scene, it was a 4 way intersection with all outdoor restaurants lining the road. both sarah and i were in agreeance that you can only get about an hours worth of enjoyment walking around looking at buildings and chuches, so we posted up at a table overlooking the area and started happy hour a little early. This basically continued until about 8ish, then we headed back to the hostel, to shower up, grab some food and then start the night.
Thurs night turned into a shitshow real quick... in not going to get into it for sake of mixed company reading this blog, but essentially, i professed my love to our belgian bartender, drinking wine and vodka on the street with 14 year old english kids, and sneaking into the plaza hotel walking the red carpet because the some prince was staying there... interesting night.
Friday we dragged ass, kindof wandered the city for a nonexistent flee market, ate dinner at the hostel, forced
a bottle of wine down, and took a power nap which turned into a 12 hour slumber. definitly a well needed rest.
Saturday morning we got on an early train to Brugge, another belgian city about an hour away (west i think). It was pretty cool, but definitly more layed back than brussels. there wasnt much to do after sightseeing than to go back to the hostel and drink, so thats exactly what we did. we had a 4 person room, that we shared with 2 FREAKS from holland. i wish i got a picture of these kids, they soo weird, but pretty fun... if not jsut to laugh at them. No lie one of them wore a had straight out of the sound of music.. and the other one for some reason had a bag full of little trinkets, like bath toys that later that night he started throwing around the room. fucking weirdos. anyway we ended up hanging out with them and some american chicks, at the hostel bar, had a pretty good time, which we def payed for the next morning when we realized we missed our morning train due to the spring forward, which ended
up making our 3 hour trip back to tours (sarah's town just south of paris) an all day affair.... we ended up getting back to sarahs flat 4 trains, and 8 and a half hours later... soo mis.
anyways... ive been gone for almost a week and it's been awsome, its pretty hard to sum up everthin thats been going on in this blog, im gonna start doing it daily i think, so i'll remember stuff better. thats all for now though cause a guy just sat down next to me how smells like abosolute DEATH. focker.. OUT
