Greetings from Vienna! After Harold and I got settled we strolled about and found a cafe that had pastries. I chose the most decadent looking one and sure enough it was great! It was some kind of vanilla and cream layered affair with whipped cream on top and a layer of those little tart red berries. (lingonberries?) It was great. I have to hurry with this blog because we are going in search of more pastries right away! Yesterday we spent 5 and a half hours in the wonderful art museum! We saw the old masters, Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer, Durer, Raphael, Caravaggio, and many more dating to the 14th Century! After we were pleasantly exhausted from that, Harold noticed another part of the museum that housed ancient stuff, so we wandered through there. We saw incedible artworks by the Etruscans, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, and other ancient people. Lots of gold and even some glass from the Romans! Of course there were mummies and all those things, too. Today we toured the Schönbrunn palace. Harold started a sketch that looks great. We got the grand tour tickets and went all over the place: the labrynth, a demonstration of streudel making, and the private gardens. Now we are off on a pastry quest! Stay tuned! Take care.
