This mountain is located in the region called "Bregenzerwald" where we already spent some winter holidays.
We've always wanted to climb this mountain and tried once in autumn but there was too much snow. This year there is so little snow that we were able to hike up with just about 20 centimetres of snow. We took the snowshoes with us in vain. It wasn't necessary to wear them during the whole trip.
We've had enough sun and a lot of wind and cold on the summit. The view up there is spectacular. If you ever have the chance to go there too, don't miss this!
From "Vorderhopfreben" (923m a.s.l.) passing "Vorderüntschenalpe" (1759m a.s.l.) and "Häfnerjoch" (1979m a.s.l.) we reached the summit called "Üntschenspitze" (2135m a.s.l.).
CarThe car's parked somewhere in the snow so let's go.
TeamMe, Ralf, Markus and Angela.
CottageAn alp cottage we passed during the ascent.
TrackThe first part of the hike we walked on this gravel road up to the alp called "Vorderüntschenalpe".
Tree LineAfter passing the tree line we reached "Vorderüntschenalpe".
BreakAngela and Markus on the snow down there were made some extra breaks, that's why Ralf and me were already some meters higher.
Alp CottageA lonely alp cottage on the other side of the mountain.
SummitThe summit with the cross on the top. Still far away but we're getting near.
RidgeRalf ready to go ahead. The last part we had to walk on the ridge to reach the summit.
ValleySomewhere down there we started our hike.
DiedamskopfThe nearby ski area "Diedamskopf" had little snow too.
