Iīve tried to write this blog a couple of times now and have had bad luck wth my internet connection crapping out right as i try to pubish it...hopefully this time will work.
long time, no blog eh.
Since i last wrote when it was raining in rome, we have seen a lot of european things, which makes perfect sense when you stop to consider where we are. We did the coliseum, the Vatican and Sistine chapel, random roman ruins, went to Florence and saw Michealangeloīs David, took dorky pictures at the Leaning Tower of Pisa, wandered the back streets and canals on a perfect day in Venice, then left Italy behind and made our way into austria.
When we were in Thailand we made friends with a few guys we hung out with for a litle while, one of whom, Gabriel, is Austrian. He was super cool and hooked us up with free places to stay for the past several days with his friends and family here. In Vienna we stayed with these three totally cool girls in an incredible old apartment building.. The first day we just wandered around vienna and appreciated what a beautiful city is was. The second day though, we were frankly geting a little tired of looking at pretty european buildings, so we went to the Prater, a big park/amusement park and spent all day riding bikes, playing pinball, eating austrian fair food, and traying unsuccesfully to win prizes by shooting arrows at balloons and whatnot. It was a really fun day, then Gabrielīs friends took us out and showed us some really cool Viennese nightlife.
The next day we decided to be a little silly and hopped on a train, enjoying the freedom of our Eurail pass, a few hours east to Budapest. I say it was silly since we didnīt get into to town until about 5pm, wandered around for a few hours, got some sleep, then hopped on the first train the next morning back to Austria. We didnīt see all that much of Budapest, but it was a nice little detour.
the last couple of days we have been in a small town in upper Austria staying with Gabrielīs sister and her boyfriend. The boyfriend plays semi-professionall soccer, so yesterday we went to his game, which was really fun even though it ended in a tie and he sort of messed up his shoulder....but we had a good time :)
today weīre heading up to Prague for three days, where we have splurged and booked an actual hotel! Thatīs a rare thing after all the hostels, dorm rooms, and couch surfing weīre done lately. Excited to have our own private bathroom!
By the way, here are the links to our Italy pictures.
