wandered all around salzberg looking for a camping place that turned out to be kaput...gona..nothing there...very frustrating. but we finally got a place that was closer. i was worried it didnt allow tent camping..but they did..and its nice...camping ina nice soft pitch..pool..but its too cold...bike rental...helpful nice place...mostly older motor home campers.
anyway.....got to the hellbrun palace yesterday...the guy who like to play tricks on his guest by spritzing em with water..all over....really nice palace. after that we had our ordeal fnding a place......after that we needed a beer ....so off to the augustiner brew hall/monestary.....just like in the videos..it is awesome...got our beer and lots of good cheap food.... enjoyed the atmosphere....went to the table behind us which had some friendly guys..and struck up a conversation...
moved over to them and made friends with some locals..and 1 english man and 1 american who worked together and also met these austrians...they were half drunk when we met em..and mostly drunk when we left....great guys!
gave us lots of good advice...told us good places we must go..where the parties are....and if the one guy is sober enough this morning round 9 or 10..gave us his card and
told us he would drive us around salzberg for about an hour showing us the main sites! maybe we can come to a bbq he is going to later....it all depends...he wa in the beer hall getting drunk cuz his wife is about to give birth.....austrians....love this place!
even told us the cool way to walk home....we walked that a bit..got us to a foot bridge over the river..beautiful...and on the bus back to camping..we met an english couple who had seen us around town....they invited us to stay with them when we are in england next month....they live near stonehenge and said they would be happy for us to stay the weekend...and they would take us to bath!!!!! HUZZAH!! (yes i got their names and number)
so except for the rain...which isnt too hard...although grizz got his feet wet last night in the sleeping bag cuz the tent wasnt up as secure as it could be..putting it up in the dark is hard, but there are washing and dryers here too..so no problem...did sleep better here than in kutna hora cuz the ground is level.
today: boat ride, funicular up to the top of the "hills
are alive song" plane.....the castle fortress that is in the middle of the city, museuems, a church with archaeological excavations to back in early christians early roman times and catacombs!!!! gotta get a pocket knife, rent bikes and go biking out into the countryside...maybe tomorrow, less rain i hope,
thats all for now! gona try and upload some vids too of places.
