View of the city from the castle
We left the castle with an overcast sky, still in our slightly warmer cloths and started to drive south. It wasn’t long before we hit the huge hops fields feeding the hundreds of German breweries. It was lovely to see this part of the world in the summer with its crops rather than the usual snow covered ground we do every ski season.

Despite being over zealous parents and playing Mozart on the journey down, we couldn’t stop Asha from singing “A brim full of Asha and a 45” We picnicked at a picnic spot by the motorway in Germany (smelling of pooh), an ice cream stop in another German farming village, and then showed how white our teeth were at the border crossing (not that old rouse again!), before we eventually got to Salzburg.

Oh and what a hotel, little boutique hotel just across the river from the old town, chocolates on the pillow were the first excitement, designer garden that the grown ups had drinks in later that evening, and a short walk to the bustle of Salzburg. As soon as we had checked in, scoffed the chocolates, we headed out as we had promised the kids a ride on a horse and carriage. We headed for the old town square and there the carriages awaited us, we chose “Jessica” and “Silver” the two white horses with the grey and pink noses as Asha pointed out and then had a magical half an hour. Whilst the grownups marvelled at the architecture, the kids spotted when the horses were doing a poo, giggling and holding their noses. The horse ride was definitely Ashas best bit of the day, she really did marvel at it, but Jay well he was in heaven when we then got onto a little funicular train up to the castle. Jay decided to scale a wall, Asha joined him, but we all loved the view. This “Wow, what an amazing view” comment is being heard a lot on this holiday from Asha.

It was getting late, we had walked a way and it was time to have dinner, the kids were being amazing given how late is was and how far they had walked, we got to the square just in front of Mozart’s birthplace and paid the premium you would expect here for a meal. We truly loved Salzburg and so did

A picnic stop (again)
the kids, all went to bed happy.

Its lovely sharing a room with the kids you hear every night their conversations about everything and anything before they drift off, and we giggle.
