We have so much to tell you, but unfortunately it will have to wait because I am typing from the front desk of our Austria stay. That is the only Internet available here right now. The first night the hotel did not have Internet and we got back to the hotel to late to walk to the Internet cafe. The next night we camped in a Medieval village and of course....no Internet. Tonight, the hotel does not have Internet for the patrons. I told them I have to let you know that we are all okay and having the most wonderful [View Full Entry]

Hello! And so now I'm at the end of the third day of my trip. I'll give a little outline of where I've been so far. Day 1:Bratislava On Monday I headed out from Luton airport to the capital of Slovakia - Bratislava. Although the country itself is one of the poorest in Europe (the 17th poorest EU country), the capital isn't lacking money. I thought perhaps this was thanks to to the tourism, and it's true that Bratislava has it's share of international tourists, but that alone would not result in such a vibrant and successful public transport system, upon [View Full Entry]

Their tuning was pretty ordinary! poor guys.
On one of our frequent trips to Salzburg land, Jess and I did a day's worth of sight seeing and came across many awesome things in one single day. We began with breakfast at IKEA (the highlight) and when leaving IKEA, came across Salzburg's Battle of the Bands competition which was awesome. Jess and I sat in the sun for nearly three hours having a good laugh at the young Austrian rockstars looking very trendy and sounding quite out of tune. There were some great ones though. After that we went to a street festival in the city and saw a [View Full Entry]

Hi guys! Kate here. Well mom, it finally happened. Your doting daughter left something behind at a hostel...her glasses. Not sun, regular. Hah. I realized it this morning and panicked for awhile before calling the hostel. The guy at the hostel said they hadnt been turned in but he would look in the room we stayed in and let me know in awhile. When I called back he said he had good news, he found them in their case with the blue cleaning cloth. Bad news, I thought, I didnt have them in a case, I thought I just left them [View Full Entry]

The last time we talked, Robert and I were getting on a train to Salzburg, Mozart country. I have to say that as much as I have disliked the night trains, I have loved the day trains. You get to see a huge amount of the countryside and they serve wine to boot. Once we arrived in Salzburg at about 8 at night. we tried to find the hotel but no one seemed to know where it was, even though it is on the main street. Once there, we collapsed and stayed in our beds until 10 knowing that tonight, ,we [View Full Entry]

Hellloooo. Does anyone still read this? Haha, I know you do....I can see the page views. Anyways, today we went to Neuwichtenstein Castle...we lucked out actually because we were supposed to go yesterday but I thought Ian had my train pass on him and he didnt so we found out last minute as we were sitting on the train that we had to quickly get off. However, it was pouring rain yesterday and just happened to clear up for today! Yay! It was about a 30 minute hike uphill to the castle and my knee was hurting a bit so that [View Full Entry]

View of the city from the castle
We left the castle with an overcast sky, still in our slightly warmer cloths and started to drive south. It wasn’t long before we hit the huge hops fields feeding the hundreds of German breweries. It was lovely to see this part of the world in the summer with its crops rather than the usual snow covered ground we do every ski season. Despite being over zealous parents and playing Mozart on the journey down, we couldn’t stop Asha from singing “A brim full of Asha and a 45” We picnicked at a picnic spot by the motorway in Germany (smelling [View Full Entry]

Guten tag! We arrived in Austria on Monday after a busy day of travel. We had breakfast in Paris, France and lunch in Munich, Germany and we ended the day with supper in Salzburg, Austria. The Austrian food we had was very hearty and delicious, and fun to try and pronounce. Schweinsbraten (Pork and dumplings) for SJ and a solid weinerschnitzl for Andy (deep fried pork)!! Salzburg is a very small city compared to where we have been and it seems very calm and not busy. Yesterday we explored the city, which included finding the pretzel stand that sold huge doughy [View Full Entry]

Travel Blog: I have lost count of the Days: Salzburg Back on the train headed south into the Med to see Croatia. Its an awful day of travel… Croatia is becoming a tourist destination because of its beautiful beaches but they need a better way to get around before they will get there. We are taking the train from Salzburg to Zagreb for about 7 hours, and then in Zagreb we will be taking a flight from Zagreb to Dubrovnik where hopefully a shuttle will be waiting to take us to Mlini where we are staying. We started out today at [View Full Entry]

Travel Blog Day 13 Salzburg We are in the old city of Salzburg now. Not sure how many of the touristy things we will do here, like the Castles and Churches, because we have seen them throughout our trip and they tend to be similar. Its 1:30 in the pm local here and Kyle and Josh have both been asleep since about 230 last night. I’ve been up since 9 (I don’t sleep), but that just tells you how tired these guys are, we are kinda ready to set up our roots for more than a few days. Getting to our [View Full Entry]
