For 715 years, from 1278 to 1993, Andorrans lived under a unique co-principality, ruled by French and Spanish leaders (from 1607 onward, the French chief of state and the Spanish bishop of Urgel). In 1993, this feudal system was modified with the titular heads of state retained, but the government transformed into a parliamentary democracy. Long isolated and impoverished, mountainous Andorra achieved considerable prosperity since World War II through its tourist industry. Many immigrants (legal and illegal) are attracted to the thriving economy with its lack of income taxes. To be updated

“May I see you in heaven, 30 minutes before the devil knows you’re dead.” Kevin (the guy who looks like Benjamin Franklin and sings at our work and is mine and Tara’s favorite local bar patron) is always full of good quotes, poems and songs. I’ve been noticing how much Irish men love any form of ethnic women. If you took a 200lb Japanese woman, with rat teeth, no tits, an inverted ass and scoliosis and they would claim she was the hottest woman on earth, because she’s ethnic. But to most of them, a California woman is ethnic as well. [View Full Entry]

Hello, we´ve now moved onto to our 5th country of the trip, the small principality of Andorra between France and Spain. We only plan on staying a few days as we head through towards the vineyards around the Bordeaux region. Our visit to Barcelona was a blast. The city was amazing plus any city with a metro system is good news for those of us on foot. The first night we checked into a hostal with a balcony overlooking the main street in Barcelona, La Rambla. The nightlife was hopping, the street was so full of people and street performers, until [View Full Entry]

April 29 - 30, 2008 ANDORRA LA VELLA We had no idea what to expect here as, quite frankly, we had never heard of it before. We kind of threw a dart at the map the day before and this is where it landed. This is a very small “ Country” ( Principality ) between Spain and France. One of those places similar to Monte Carlo and Luxembourg. The big business here is tourists and it's a tax haven so there are lots of big banks, accountants and lawyers. One interesting fact we learned was that this is the place to [View Full Entry]

Monday, 14th April Spent day mooching around Sitges.Much quieter on sea front today so we enjoyed a peaceful time walking around and eventually managed to find an internet room to download blog. Had been trying to do this for days without success. Shops here are very upmarket and interesting - all different in style and design. Friends, Elizabeth and Peter arrived later in the day after long drive up from Santa Pola. Had cooked them a meal so we enjoyed a happy time together. In the evening we watched an old Dads Army until we realised that the old German van [View Full Entry]

Snowboarding in Soldeu Europe » Andorra » Soldeu
This was definitely the holiday we were waiting for. From the moment we came back from Snowboarding in Bansko we wanted to go again, like kids in a Theme Park. The fact that Will and Chaz would be coming with us made it all even more exciting. We had five full great days snowboarding. The week started with Chaz falling, hitting his board on some poor man's head and having to be rescued by a snowmobile and it finished with Axelle having to give up half way through the last day due to, lets say, bottom injury. The apartment was at [View Full Entry]

Skiing in Andorra Europe » Andorra
This was my second ski trip and I can say that I was much more successful then last time. We flew to Reus in Spain where we meet our friends Candice and Javier and then we drove to Andorra to spend Easter together. The journey took +/- 2:30hs. We stayed in their house in Canillo. The nice thing about skiing in Andorra is that it appeals to all levels from beginners to advanced. The scenery is also beautiful. We didn’t have the opportunity to dine anywhere as we mostly stayed at home, so can’t recommend any restaurants. However I can recommend [View Full Entry]
