barra de santiagofinally, the beach. just four of us, one night, and only three of us the next two...we had the whole place and beach to ourselves, a vacation from my trip.

mangrovesthe beach was actually a peninsula, backed by mangroves on the other side, a three minute walk from one shore to the other.
ingrid, from hollandmet her first on ometepe and again in san salvador, she went with us to the beach...she has been traveling for ten months already.

so gross and so goodfound the weirdest chips in the nearby village. they really tasted like french fries with ketchup. really.

canoe ridewe had to leave by crossing the mangrove, the canoe almost sank, our bags were to heavy...it was 5:30 in the morning.
guatemalaafter the beach we went to guatemala, straight throught guat. city and on to antigua...very beautiful...but so many gringos.
fun kidsreally sweet girls, of course they were fascinated by my camera.
lan not really enjoying a papusa, really popular local food...a tortilla filled with beans or cheese or meat and topped with cabbage, salsa, and guacamole. normally they are so delicious.
meenjoying, it was so good that i had three, a tostada topped with cabbage, salsa, and loads of guacamole. i am in heaven. guacamole. guacamole.
