Well was another trip to Gibbs Cay“Key”. Gibbs Cay is about a 25 minute ride from Grand Turk. We only go to the Cay on special trips and today was one of them. Well it started off with two dives in the morning in Grand Turk on the Wall. At 9am did our first dive and we the second was done by 12:30pm. After that we all got off and went for something to eat before our big trip out to the Cay.
I packed the boat with a cooler full of water, ice and Jon’s world famous Rum Punch. The Gibbs trip is not a diving trip it’s a snorkelling trip, so I got all the fins, mask and snorkels ready too go. And headed to picked up all the group at their hotel in the boat like I normally do(what service). So we got everyone on board ... and started off.
Okay 20 minutes later we arrived at Gibbs. Now the island is only ½ mile long and about the same width. So its quite small. It was our own little secluded beach for a day me 6 other people. The sand is soft white powder sand
and the water is crystal clear blue water. We get out of the boat and set up a shelter from the hot sun and set up our little station for that important Rum Punch. Not even 5 minutes being at the island we had 4 huge southern stingrays just up in the shallow waters. WOW !!! HOLY C***P is what the group was saying all with smiles on their faces. Well the group did a bit of snorkelling as well as myself just around the island. Well I start snorkelling and a Shark swims right passed me…… and continued to circle around me WOW what another great experience. Shark, Stingrays and Rum Punch on our own little island for the day cant get much better than that.
So we stayed on the island for about 2 hours before we had to get ready to go back to the real world. But if your ever in Grand Turk, Gibbs Cay is 1 thing you want to do it’s a great way to spend a afternoon in the sun.
