Well I've completed one of my top things I have to do in my life. This last week we had some amazing people in from all around the USA. They all belonged to organization called Van's Air Force. What all of them have are their own airplanes called RV's. "RV" ? ?? same thing I thought they fly motor homes...ahah. No so RV stands for recreational Vehicle. And this is such a neat thing is the planes they fly are kit planes that most of them built in their garage at home in their spare time. They start building the planes from ground up putting every rivet in to electrical and paint. Its so amazing to see the finished product flying!! and how nice they look. So we had a big group of around 10 of them diving with us at Blue Water Divers.
One guy in the group named Byran Wood from California i taught him how to scuba dive. It took about 3 days to complete his Open Water Certification. On his dive we see large groupers, Turtles and loads of nice fish. Bryan just loved it. After we completed his diving he asked me if i wanted
to go for a ride in this plane. Well naturally!!! My quick response "hell yeah!" Well we planed to go from Grand Turk to Provo which is about 25 min flight. Going to Provo there was going to be 3 RV planes one had Monica from the office and Genn. The other plane had Paul and Mitch (owner of BWD). Paul is one of the most experience pilots in the RV community. Paul put over 2,600 hours flying in his plane just over a few years. Well before flight Bryan gave me a basic course on how everything works. After a little intro Byran asked if i wanted to fly the plane once we got off the ground. Well i was so excited I'm about to do something everyone has thought about since Top Gun the movie came out.
Well so we started to leave Grand Turk around 11:00am and started over to Provo. So we have a nice smooth take off from Grand Turk and we climbed to around 4,000 feet in no time the RV 's are like hotrods in the air. They can reach amazing speeds of 200 miles per hour and built in the garage!! Once
before the flightWow.. Look close at that sweet shirt.."Trust me I'm a Pilot" and they believed me.
we got over the Passage between the islands called Columbus Passage where the water is about 7,000 feet down. Byrand let me take controls of the plane i had to keep it at 4,500 feet and stay on the Track to Provo while looking out the window. It just came so natural, the best way to describe it was like playing a video game when i was a kid. It was a great experience learning how to fly. Once we neared Provo Bryan took back the controls to prepare for landing at the airport. We landed at athe airport and refueled the plane. After a few hours in provo we made our way back to GT. On the way back to GT we all stayed really close flying in the V shape. We made a really nice pass down the West side of Grand Turk and around the island at about 1,200 feet. Then around 5 hours later we landed back into Grand Turk. It was seriously load of fun and might be something I peruse more in the future. But my next thing in a plane might be sky diving this summer!!
insidewhat?? do these buttons do..??again
