Tough lifeWhat should I do today.... lie on the beach or by the pool?
Last week I attended the destination wedding of two dear friends in lovely St. Lucia, an island in the Eastern Caribbean. We flew into the international airport in the south and took a helicopter north to the opposite end of the island where we were staying in Rodney Bay.
After months of dreary London winter, the sun, sand and tropical drinks were almost too good to be true...
For days on end our most difficult decision was whether to stay by the pool or walk down the street to the beach. And whether to order a pina colada, banana lady or bloody mary. Or one of each.
The wedding festivities themselves were lovely - bbq party on the beach Thursday night, wedding Friday afternoon on Pigeon Island in a national park with a rocky coastline and crashing waves as the backdrop. After a champagne toast we were whisked back to Rodney Bay to the reception in a beautiful waterfront restaurant.
We finished off the weekend with dinner and late night karaoke on Saturday. It wasn't exactly a karaoke bar...more like a shack/lunch counter where a guy sets up his computer, a television screen and two microphones. It
draws quite a crowd and we were joined by a ton of locals and the entire crew of our Virgin Atlantic return flight to London. The stewardesses looked a little worse for wear the next day...
So much fun - a great weekend with a wonderfully fun group of people.
Congrats to Chi and James! Enjoy your honeymoon and I'll see you when you get back to London!
Getting close to Rodney BayThe North West coast of the island... starting to see houses and hotels now. Large parts of the island including the rainforest in the center and parts of the east coast are uninhabited.

A three hour tourActually, it was a 4 hour fishing trip. The sun was out and it was a beautiful warm day but the fish weren't biting and the waves were a bit choppy. Most of us were feeling pretty green by the end.
