I have been here less than 24 hours but I imagine that I have already sweat four/forty times the normal amount. I have a permanent Upper Lip Sweat Mustache, hereafter known as the ULSM and an assortment of mosquito bites in strange places. Those things are all over me like the Portland Trailblazers on Greg Oden. (I love you, Grandpa!) I would be lieing if I said it wasn't daunting to be here by myself, but I think some good things will come of it. The house I am in is beautiful, I'll add some photos tomorrow. And if it weren't [View Full Entry]

Day 2 went a lot better. We got up early and left our bags at the hotel. After that we headed to Old San Juan to go to beach and El Morro. We got up and walked to the beach in search of food. Apparently we entered in at the wrong place because it took us over a mile of walking to even find something. After some b [View Full Entry]

My expectation now of Puerto Rico has changed since going there and experiencing it. I first thought, an US occupied island, it would be this island which be exploited by american culture. Thou leaving that place i kind of miss the people iÂīve met there and what it had to offer! The people speak english and spanish over here but i have find that they seem to feel more comfortable speaking spanish. Meeting and talking to the locals, i started to realise that they were very different to the US and had a certain independence with their culture to the [View Full Entry]

blogger Dougo A sensational day that enters into the Top 5 of Trip Experiences! Today we were picked up early (9:30am is early for us!) and went on a tour of the El Yunque Rainforest and finished with one of the most amozing things ever. Raphael was our guide, a local Peurto Rican who always had a story to tell and a piece of advice about life to give. We picked up 8 others before we headed up to the rainforest. All American. All girls. This didnt really bother me that much being an elementary teacher and and having gone [View Full Entry]

Kite Flying in the Trade Winds
Fort in Old San Juan

Katie and I departed from Cincinnati after our last week of classes on a Saturday. Our cruise was scheduled to leave Sunday however, we were going to spend a day in San Juan. As we flew in I noticed on the runways there were snakes and there were broken down planes all around. However, we were so excited about the experience. We got off the plane and then inside the airport there it was super hot. I was in a Puma sweat outfit and Katie in a Victoria Secret one so just imagine two American girls sweating our butts off... Our delicious dinner at the Supper Club.
I think if I had to sum up last weeks voyage in one word it would be “Ironic’. Last week I had my best friend sail - Kristen, and her cousin Kim. It was sooooo nice to have familiar faces from home sail and I was craving some comfort from home as well. So it was very nice to have that when they came. The week before they came I was running around the ship trying to make sure that I organized everything I could for their voyage. I wanted them to experience cruising at its best. I organized for the [View Full Entry]

Here are the shirts that I put the "Cruising Logo" on.
Of course I have plenty more pictures, but we had a great time on our cruise. My time in the US was too short, but I got everything done and had a very relaxing time cruising the Caribbean. We started off in Miami then went to Puerto Rico then on to St. Maartin and finally Haiti. I will add some pictures from all locations because I just realized as I select different counties, it highlights my map and I would hate to miss out on highlighting one of the countries on my map....lol Do you like the shirts.
