I have been here less than 24 hours but I imagine that I have already sweat four/forty times the normal amount. I have a permanent Upper Lip Sweat Mustache, hereafter known as the ULSM and an assortment of mosquito bites in strange places. 8 till 11 juni: Det forsta vi mottes av i San Juan i Puerto Rico i Vastindien var en mycket otrevlig tulltjansteman. Vi hade ingen aning om att vi just hade satt foten pa amerikanskt territorium. Puerto Rico var tydligen en amerikansk stat, om an en oberoende sadan. My expectation now of Puerto Rico has changed since going there and experiencing it. I first thought, an US occupied island, it would be this island which be exploited by american culture. Thou leaving that place i kind of miss the people i´ve met there and what it had to offer! The people speak english and spanish over here but i have find that they seem to feel more comfortable speaking spanish. Katie and I departed from Cincinnati after our last week of classes on a Saturday. Our cruise was scheduled to leave Sunday however, we were going to spend a day in San Juan. As we flew in I noticed on the runways there were snakes and there were broken down planes all around. However, we were so excited about the experience. I think if I had to sum up last weeks voyage in one word it would be “Ironic’. Last week I had my best friend sail - Kristen, and her cousin Kim. It was sooooo nice to have familiar faces from home sail and I was craving some comfort from home as well. So it was very nice to have that when they came. Of course I have plenty more pictures, but we had a great time on our cruise. My time in the US was too short, but I got everything done and had a very relaxing time cruising the Caribbean. We started off in Miami then went to Puerto Rico then on to St. Maartin and finally Haiti.
