March 25th, San Juan, 5:22pm
My damn shoe rack woke me up this morning at 7:45am with a bang as it fell over again. I think next contract I will buy a better one that bolts to the wall maybe. I have already started my packing list for my next contract as I brought stuff this time that I have never used or worn, so I now know what to bring.
The desk was full of the same silly questions this morning but I was robotic as they want us to be. We almost sold out every tour we have for San Juan because we are not offering tours to the Bacardi distillery due to the problems we have had the last couple of weeks.
I had a little bite to eat at noon and then cleaned up my room a little bit and started organizing all my souvenirs from Europe so that I can pack quickly when the time comes in a couple of weeks.
I headed to the theatre for dispatch at 1pm only to find a show going on which worried me a little bit, but it ended at 1:05pm and we got to work. Sorin was very disoriented on the radio for some reason, and he said they were going to close the pier at 2pm due to the arrival of the Freedom, which seemed odd to me because it is never in before 3pm.
At 1:30pm Sorin barked over the radio to send all the tours down to both gangways right away. I was on the microphone so I had a quick discussion with him about the fact that two of the tours had not even begin to get to the theatre but he said we had to send then now! So I got on the mic and sent all the tours as people continued to arrive in the theatre and were very confused by the whole process.
It turned out in the end that the pier was not going to be closed until 3pm but because there was a ship that was LEAVING beside us Sorin got some bad information from a couple of people (security and hotel director) that the pier was going to be closed as the ship was leaving. The problem is that we are busting our buts to try and do everything we can to get our ratings up and then they go and do something like this that gives people something to complain about and it kills us!
After we were done I wandered in San Juan to get a couple of things, and pick up a birthday present for someone. I had a look at watches but was able to resist this week, even though I did find a really nice one.
I made my way back to the ship area to meet Trish and Bud for lunch, and as I expected they were early, Bud usually is. They are on the Freedom of the Seas this week which parks right beside us so I said I would by them lunch. It was great to see them as it brought a little bit of normality to my life being able to talk to people from my own little part of the world. They tell me that the golf course in is good shape and Dan and Doug are surviving the new computer system. Thanks again for lunch Bud, I will buy you a beer when I get home, and yes Trish I will have some time for a lesson or two when I get home.
I have an hour before I have to be at work, so I am going to wrap a birthday present and then have a little siesta.
9:49pm
I had the craziest guests tonight, I had drunk ones, stupid ones, loud ones, quiet ones, pretty ones, big ones, small ones, even one who had the same name as me, and it was one of those nights.
Tomorrow should be a quiet day for me as I only have 5 golfers going to the Run. It is too bad that we weren’t there yesterday as I talked to Devon, who is on the Constellation and he played there yesterday and bumped into Barrack Obama on the golf course and all his secret service guys, that would have been cool! Maybe Hillary will be there tomorrow, who knows!
The cast is playing drinking charades and is trying to involve me but I am going to take a pass thank you very much as I have to be up early and I don’t want to get roped into that madness.
