I haven't started gambling but the Fiesta Casino is now my favorite place in David. Until now, Hotel Toeldo held that spot because of the nice beds, ac, and cable tv. But the casino has something that hotel t does not: Nachos. A gigantic plate of delicious nachos for only 4 bucks. It was amazing. Not only that but they have a 3$ luch special which includes appetizer, main dish, and desert. It is by far the best food I've had in Panama. They also have a huge project screen tv and extremely hot waitresses/dancers that were smiling and waving at me.
In other news, my host brother Fofi decided he didn't like the American girl (who i did meet and was pleasantly not surprised to find that she was indeed unattractive and not very smart). He's now back together with his previous girlfriend... happy ending after all. Boris is now text dating Melana (there's no actual dating in the campo since there's really nowhere to go and nothing to do besides send text messages to each other every 10 seconds). I find this rather amusing since Melana hardly speaks and Spanish and Boris knows absolutely no English. He did show me a couple texts from her, and I remember one saying 'you're so damn cute.' Boris couldn't understand why I was unable to stop laughing.
My family here showed me a bunch of family photos the other day. They're big on family here and love to share with others. After that I got hammered with questions about my family. I decided it would be fun to show them some of my pictures. Most are of animals, but the ones with people are either of me messing with dangerous wildlife or of drunk people. Panamanians don't much care for most wildlife, especially not crocodiles and venemous snakes so it was fun hear them say 'que feo' to every picture and then look at me like I'm crazy. I did have some family pictures from Thanksgiving. Alex, all the girls think you're cute and they can't wait for you to come and visit. When they said that, it was my turn to look at them like they were crazy. Oh and Perle, they think you're hot too. When you come visit I know several high school girls that are dying to meet you.
My host sister's birthday was yesterday. I didn't know it at the time but I returned from my regional meeting in David just in time for singing and cake. The cake wasn't that great but I had a good time regardless. That is up until most people had left except for 3 of Dailin's (sister) cousins called me out on the porch to chat. I was subject to the most inappropriate questioning by 3 girls no older than 15 with asolutely no shame whatsoever. They kept saying they were only joking about stuff but it was still very uncomfortable being sexually harasses by young girls. Until then I never had to tell anyone here that I refuse to answer their question. I had to do that a lot last night.
'Do you think we're pretty?'
The truth is no, they were chubby and annoying, but I went with 'I'm not going to answer that.'
'Because we think you're very pretty.' Why me :(
'Why, do you think we're ugly?' well... 'I'm not going to answer that.'
'Can I touch your hair?'
'No'
'Please'
'No' but they did it anyways
'Oh it's so soft'
Later one of them tricked me into what I thought was a harmless handshake and then proceeded to rub my hand... 'so smooth' and so very very creepy
'Teach us bad words in English'
'No'
'How do you holla at bitches walking down the street in the US?'
'We don't do that in the US'
'Well all the men do it here'
'So I'm told'
'Are we bothering you?' YES!!!, but I said 'No, it's just that I'm not used to these types of questions in the US'
'It's normal to talk about this kind of stuff here... so do you think we're hot?'
And for the finale:
'Is all the hair on your body blonde?'
At that point I went back in the house to watch TV in peace. Looking back it was kind of funny I guess, but also pretty creepy and I hope I never see them again... although my mother told me today that they want my phone number. I said it would be better if she didn't give it to them... because I will cry.
Today I had my best English class yet at the school. The kids were in their seats and well behaved the whole time. Not only that but they were really eager to learn more English. After the assigned words that the teacher gave us, they wanted to know more. So I taught them several greetings and they were genuinely excited about it... I believe there was even cheering. I wish all the classes were like the 5th graders.
All in all things just keep getting better and better. I've got a few seminars this month to help me get started with me real work once my first 3 months is up (this means I'll be in David again with my delicious nachos). And to top it all off there's a big halloween party in Bocas del Torro.

You should have thrown those girls a bone and told them they were pretty. I mean, honestly, they probably are going to be scarred for life after the "man of their dreams" refuses to acknowledge their looks. Haha, I wish I could see these awkward situations, I'm sure Sean and I could laugh at you for a change, instead of always making fun of me. Diana and I are throwing our cat a birthday party today. I'm making him a cake. Am I ashamed? No.

Hey,
Glad to hear you're enjoying the blog. I am having a wonderful time here in Panama. I am in Chiriqui, in the town of Santa Clara (very close to Rio Sereno). Unfortunately I teach all the grades and not just 5th so I know what you mean about the younger kids being crazy. But they all seem to enjoy having me at the school. Thanks for reading! I'll keeping on writing
