(Allyne) Sorry to all, we have been relaxing for the past week in a lovely beach house on Uvirita beach.... our destination in Panama. I was reminded for the 10th time to do the blog.... so here are the details.
We crossed the boarder into Panama, with little confusion. All by ourselfs again, no boarder jockeys! exiting CR wasent a problem, but I had to insist that the agriculture guy to give us an exit stamp for troopers papers, he said i did not need it, but i thought it would be better for our return trip.
When we pull up to the Panama boarder (with Trooper in the co pilot seat) I had many people asking if we had a licence for him. ... Turns out you need a licence to bring a dog into Panama (of course). I´m not sure where one would obtain a licence before hand..... since me and joce did do alot of work with papers before hand for trooper. We had spoken to the Panamanian consulate in Ottawa and they told us we needed to send a health cert, and vaccination record, wich costs 30 dollars each to the embassy, to have authenticated. With
waiting for dinner
suely, sueby, troop, and sprite help from our other sister, Cindy, this actually got done before we left. But it did not get sent back to us by the time we left slash got lost in the mail. So when we were crossing the boarder, the agriculture guys sais we need a licence, and we say that´s not what the consulate said.... well he obiously has nothing to do with the consulate, and the Panamainian consulate got a 60 dollar bonus.
So he needs a licence, and how do we go about doing that?? Well you need a vet to do a checkup today. Ok so that´s fine, except that it´s saturday, and there is no vet at the boarder, so we have to call one from David. The agriculture guys tells me it´s going to be 75 dollars. F)=&/(%&· OK well it made sure it was only going to be 75 with no other papers, or inspections, 75 to get the dog across the boarder... fine.
I go and let the other´s know, and Joce hits the roof, she wants´to talk to the guy. So I bring her to the agriculture guy, and she argues in broken spanish for a half hour about how
she already paid the consulate, and so on. We wait another hour, the vet comes, looks a trooper, inspects him, and were done. 50 dollars to the vet, 10 for the licence recipt and 15 for the agriculture guy. Then he tells us the licence people are not open today, and he will go on monday and get us one printed up. So I ask if we have to return to the boarder on monday,,,, ? no, we jsut have to come back on one of the days he is working, and he will give it to us. He gave us his work schedual, and hoped for the best on the way back.
It was 1230 by the time we got done with the boarder )we got there around 830). Jordan happened to be chatting with some guy sitting next to the car, and he turned out to be one of my parents friends, renewing his visa. So we used his phone to call the parents. They told us we could make it to Las Tablas by night fall if we drove straigh there. Sick of staying at over priced hotels, we decided to drive. With a quick stop at the REY (great prices!!) we headed to las tablas. We were told to meet them at Oceanus grill because there was a party there that night. We rolled up to a cheering crowd of liquered retirees. We were happy to finally arrive, and partyed it up with some nice pèople.
For the past coulple of days we have seen the Finca, the beach and the town of Las tablas. We enjoy going shopping at the Super Carne (its really cheap, and they have a good bakery).
Jordan of course was doing laundry out back of my parents place, and rolled his ankel..... actually sprained his ankel, ans has been limping for the past coulple days. It´s almost healed up now tho..... oh and the day after he sprained his ankel, we went for a swim in the ocean, and he got stung by a jelly fish around his ankels....... poor jord.
Yesterday Jordan and I went to Playa Veneao, looking for a surf but when we got there (1.5hours later) the tide was low, and there were no waves. (Probly for the better since jords ankel was still on the mend).
Jocelan and Simon went into Panama city, to check it out and meet up with Ken and Janine. They will come back tommorow. Menwhile the RV is getting some hiccups fixed at the mechanico.
Trooper is doing well, but does not get allong well with Suby and Suly (the dogs at the beach house). He mopes around because they don´t want to play with him. He enjoys walks with them tho.
We will update again before departing Panama....

Wow... it truly sounds like you guys are in paradise... i am soooo jealous BUT I'm glad to hear you all arrived there safely. I'm here in rainy ass vancouver sitting in bed on a saturday, 10 in the morning on a grey day cuz of all the heavy rain clouds that are covering this city, plus i'm all pregnant and getting bigger by the day, thus making it more difficult for me to get out of bed..and just DREAMING about being exactly where you guys all are...ughh...!!! I miss the road trips days of Nate and I... just out there with nothing but road and beach destinations ahead of us... enjoy each and every minute of this. This is the time of your lives and kudos to you all for making it happen! Loving the updates guys so keep em coming! Take care! xx
