Holllla a todos :)
A month in Nicaragua flew by very, very fast...as always when u are having a good time :)
A week here, a week there and I realized (again) that I have to move faster otherwise I will never reach South America.
I started my trip around Nicaragua (shortly "Nica") in San Juan del Sur...there I've meet 3 very nice rasta guys from Panama and I had a lot of fun with them...salsa, beach time and some partying :)
Then I continued to a famous Isla de Ometepe/ Ometepe island which is an island formed by two volcanoes rising from Lake Nicaragua.
Lake Nicaragua is the largest inland body of water in Central America. Ometepe Island, the largest island in the lake, is comprised of two beautiful volcanoes and a narrow corridor of land between them.
AMAZING!
The two volcanoes, Concepción and Maderas, are joined by a low isthmus to form one island in the shape of an hourglass. There I spent a very nice time and I could stay longer...friendly locals, amazing scenery and horses!!! YES...after 6months of travelling I went horseback riding for the first time and it was simply great!!!! Just
me and a guide :) There I realized how much I really miss horses...so from now one I will go for a ride wherever it will be possible!!!
Colonial Granada with colourful houses was nice, but for my taste a bit toooo touristy. It has a rich colonial heritage, seen in its architecture and layout...and because of that Granada is historically one of Nicaragua's most important cities (both economically and politically).
In Granada I finally met a very dear friend of mine - el loco mexicano! I've met Eduardo in Colombia approx. 4years ago and since then we became really good friends. Together we went to León, which is the second largest city in Nicaragua (after chaotic&very dangerous Managua).
After Leon we went to Esteli and lovely Miraflor natural park...but we didn't have soooo much luck with weather...and this is basically the main reason why I skipped Corn islands :( ...but, there is always next time :)
Now I am in Panama...tomorrow I am heading to Bocas del toro to check the beach...and from there...well who knows - my plans are changing all the time :)
un monton de besos para todos,
Jana
