I'm now in San Juan del Sur, and I've been here since Sunday afternoon. We (me, those three girls from California, another girl from Arizona and one guy from California) made our way to the converted school bus from Granada to Rivas. We all knew it was destined to be a great trip when it started off with the sight of two horses mating on the side of the road and then getting a flat tire. With so many of us traveling together, when we got to Rivas, we split up into two taxis to get to San Juan del Sur. Hannah, Kenneth and I got the angry taxi driver...he honked at everyone, including the cars that had the nerve to be in front of him at the gas station. He then stopped to pick up two more passengers for another, but certainly not the last of packed taxi rides...have I mentioned that Kenneth is 6'5" and we had all of our backpacks with us? Yet again, legs were out the window, but we livened up the ride with some singalongs in the back.
We moved into Hotel Estella, which Lonely Planet describes as the "romantic option" which it is, if your idea of romance is 4 beds in a tiny room, and a more than reasonable fear of bed bugs, but whatever...it was $5 a night and we had an amazing view and breeze off of the ocean.
San Juan del Sur is a super cute little town that is no more than 4 blocks in any one direction, with lots of gringos and cute surfer boys pretty much every where you look...i like it here =)
On SUnday and Monday, we pretty much just hung out at the beach - first the town beach, and then up to Playa Madera which is where just about everyone goes to surf from SJDS. On Tuesday, I started Spanish school, where I will be attending until Saturday. My teacher, Cecelia, is great, and we spend most of our time talking - which is what I need more than anything else, to get my confidence up with speaking spanish. There are about 10 other students in the school, and every afternoon there is an activity - Tuesday we went to Playa Madera, yesterday to visit Rivas and today to PLaya Remanzo, complete with horseback riding =)
I've got class tomorrow and then I am planning on searching out a surf lesson...wish me luck!

I sincerely doubt I will ever be tired of surfer boys...what a crazy thing to say! I am looking forward to my new eye candy, but I did get a job offer for a dive shop down here, so who knows?
