****A long lost blog that was saved, written by Ray****
Ola,after a bit of an absence we are back on the web! It has been an interesting day today even if it was one step forward and two back.
We left David Panama this morning after a leisurely night at a first class hotel. We left at 1000 hrs with Panama city and the canal withing striking distance. Not. ....once we were about 160 klms South a second Migration station was encountered. Problemo ,one passport lacked a nesicito stamp. No amount of negotiation would change that and the fact that the first road check let us through did not garner any sympathy. So......back to the border we rode on a 320 km round trip.
We were within 10 km of the border when we were flagged over by the police, oh ,oh ,speeding. I was in the lead on a 4 lane divided highway but apparently the speed had changed to 60 from 100 a mile back. Considering we were being passed by most vehicles it defiantly applied specifically to us. Sounds like the same complaining that we do in Canada when we get a ticket!,after chatting
with the officer and apologizing for breaking the law he said that we would get a break. Three x $50 USD tickets and a ride to the police station were avoided. We thanked him and committed to slower travel. It looks like even the bicycles will pass us now. Our motos garner lots of attention but it is not always the kind we want.
Once back at the border an hour solved the problem including another trip into Costa Rico to get the date changed on our travel permits. So now its 1615 hours and we are finally back where we started yesterday at .WE 1615
Hondurian guides through the borderOur interperters probably trying to find ways to get more money out of us. They walk you through the myriad of paperwork and language barrier. A love hate relationship, 99% hate.
Honduran border crossingHot humid smelly and no rules. You can see the entrance is full of vendors, hangerouters and the usual suspects. Hours and hours spent here.
Passport check in HondurasLots of time to play with hidden features on my camera while wating for the rats to bribe the border gaurds to go through on Sunday, or so they said.
NIcaragua?Cool hotel with caged monkeys in the back.
