Comayagua, Here I Come....Wait

After a very stressful flight and arrival into the Tegucigalpa (capital of Honduras) airport, I have finally arrived at my new home, Comayagua, Honduras. I arrived at the Ohare airport this morning at 4:30a.m. which is very lucky considering the hotel failed to give us wake up calls. After a tearful goodbye to my mom and an hour of waiting in line to check in, I was informed that I would not be able to fly into Honduras on a one way ticket. Apparently they wanted assurance that I would leave their country at some point. After I smooth talked my way through that, I arrived in Tegucigalpa without anyone to pick me up at the airport. I looked in every nook and cranny of the airport for someone holding a sign with my name but to no avail. Fortunately, I was able to speak to a baggage claim attendent who directed me to the bus leaving later in the evening to the United States Army base in Comayagua. Once I arrived at the bus and explained my situation to the driver, he allowed me to use his phone to call the base. The person I spoke to at the base apparently was a friend of someone's husband that knew another guy, who knew one of the administators at the school. So, two hours later I was picked up. On the bright side, I was able to gather the baggage claim attendant's full life story. He graciously offered to take care of me if no one came to pick me up but I politely declined. After an hour drive to Comayagua, I arrived at the house where I will be living for at least the next year. Its beautiful. I will try to post pictures soon. After dining out with my roommates later that evening, however, I came home to a computer that had a corrupt file and refused to boot up. Luckily, that is fixed now.
