We left Utila and caught the 2 p.m. ferry. Oh my we had a long day of travel ahead of us. We caught a bus straight from La Ceiba to Teguc. Little did we know it would be a 7 hour bus ride......
It was pretty scenic on the bus. Rolling hills, cows crossing the road, and a pretty nice sunset from the bus window. We wrote in our journals and drifted in and out of "bus sleep", aka horrible sleep.
We arrived into Tegucigalpa around 1130 pm. Crap. We didnt have a lot of money and it was really late in the capital city, which in central america, means after dark you need to get inside. Most of the big cities are somewhat sketch after dark.
We caught a taxi from the bus station and tried to find a hotel. We drove to the closest one and it was closed; just our luck. We went to several more and they were closed as well. It was now around midnight and we still didnt have a place to sleep. We asked the taxi driver if we could sleep on his floor at his house, but he said no. Finally we arrived to another hotel and the driver got out and began to bang on the front doors. Sure enough a light came on, then there was a face at the door.
We decided we needed to stay there, no matter what the price was. Crap. Just our luck the hotel costs ten dollars per person. Oh well at least we had somewhere to stay.
The next day we went out in downtown Teguc, went to a grocery store, an atm, and then caught another bus to the border of Nicaragua.
Oh my traveling takes it out of you!
