Well I am actually here on the northern carribean coast of Honduras in a small beach village called Omoa which has a population of about 2000. I have been here since arriving at the port city of Puerto Cortes in Northern Honuduras even though the entry states that I am in San Pedro Sula.
I went to do some exploring of the local area and decided the easiest way to do this was to hire a local bike which was extremely small and had a basket on the front......a lot like a girlies bike. Great scenery around here, managed to cycle & walk up part of the local mountains which are all around here and the beach has a stunning backdrop of these luscious green mountains and one can see why the americans decided to set up a lot of fruit plantation here for a large variety of tropical fruit like melons, bananas, papaya & oranges. I came across a number of local fresh water rivers and waterfalls which were a refreshing break from the cold salty water around the Gulf of Honduras which seperates Belize, Guatemala & Honduras. Everyone here seems to get around on either a push bike
or horseback and it does seem like the logical solution considering the terrain I encountered was pretty bad on my way up through the Honduran mountains.
In the evening after eating an amazing fish dish of course with rice and beans (which is served with everything here) I manage to find put that there is a major football final tomorrow in the town of San Pedro Sula which is about 1-2 hours inland from here. The game is between Olympia and Montagua which is a bit like the FA Cup final in england and it is the penultimate game in the season and very important over here. Apparently there are going to be around 65,000 fanaticos locos (crazy fans) at the game and the chance of getting a ticket is rather slim so I have made a concerted decision to watch the game on the local tv with the locals.
