Environment, crap maths and gingers

Just wanted to write a few thoughts on central america.

Lets start with the important things, gingers! 5 in mexico, 1 in Guatemala ( geordie girl toasting in the sun) so not sure that counts, el Salvador no gingers and Honduras 1 in danli a local who looked suspiciously like an english football hooligan.

Crap maths now this is important. No matter what shop or restaurant you go in and no matter how little you buy even if its only 2 items costing say 30 lempiras and 20 lempiras you can be guaranteed that the intelectual behind the counter will use a calculator its incredible, nobody ever adds anything up in their heads and sometimes the women check with their husbands what the total should be! Yesterday the girl in the cafe couldnt add up 50 plus 25 its amazing and its across the whole of cenral america! There is a distinct lack of educated conversation out here, with the exception of cuba people do not really appear to read. Impression is they can but cant be arsed.

The environment? what environment the whole of central america seems to be having a competition as to who can throw the most rubbish in the street. i kid you not you are stood in the street and bottles, tins, cans all sorts go flying past your head or feet. Its all ages ive seen people from 5 to 90 doing it. This along with buring trees and grass is their favourite past time. Give it 10 years and you wont be able to see some of these towns for rubbish so if you want to see whats left of the environment i recommend coming now!

The councils dont bother with bins let along recycling. the only place you can find a bin is in the main parks the rest of the town the gutters are used!
