I am waiting here to catch a TICA bus down to the capital of the next country of my travels NICARAGUA so I decide to pass the time by visiting one of the local parks here very high up in the mountains. I have found out it is so expensive to fly to latin america from here that it is better to take the buses all the way down to panama and try and get a cheap flight there !

I visit a variety of local parks during my days to occupy the time which provide really good views of this massive city be central american standards. It certainly seems a loy safer and people friendly to walk around in the day time compared to san salvador and the capital city of nicaragua called managua. The streets at time resemble a mix of colonial spanish architecture and al lot of the avenues and walkways have the feel of san Francisco in the states because of the high gradients and sheer vertical drops and there is clearly a rich and poor dividing line here in the city which is the river comaguayala. Most of the dodgy and bad areas I have been to so far in mexico, belize, guatemala, el salvador have notorious districts located next to the bus stations and outdoor or indoor central market areas.

Something I always bear in mind on my travels when arranging my room for the nite in various central american cities. In this capital city I have not seen to many people living on the streets and playing the tourists and plaging them for money unlike other cities I have come across so far & here there is always a heavy police or army influence in the cathedral district where I have been hanging out for some days for 3 pounds a nite and by far some of the most weapon concentration I have come across since I left mexico.
