Open Water Divers!
Well we did it, we are now PADI open water divers, certified with a card and everything. We did 2 more dives this morning one at Mandy's Eel Garden and the other at Sea Quest. Both were off the front of our hotel and down a little ways. At stop one we had to do this exercise where you fill your mask with water open your eyes then drain the water out. I hate it. And that sea water burns like anything. But I did it. We saw some hard to spot flounders on the sandy bottom. So amazing how they hide. The coral barrier reef out here is amazing. It is a whole other world down there with colorful fish and corals. I realize now if the fish are tiny, and there were a bunch hanging around and they are colorful fun looking fish, I am totally ok with them being around me. Get bigger than a bread box and I prefer they stay further away or be below me. Now we had told Arturo we wanted to see a turtle, and you know what...he found us one! They are so cool! Hope our underwater photos
come out good with Mr. Turtle in it. Now we did have to take a test after these two dives and I scored higher than A! 😊
Cruise Ship
Apparently the cruise ship hit Roatan today. It was a madhouse on the beach, so crowded! Getting ready to go out on the dive we saw a bunch of people on those banana float things. Crazy. There were a lot of people. I guess they stop here, spend a few hours then head back. Don't think I would like that at all.
Relaxing Last Afternoon
I wanted to head back to West End after our test but I swear I started melting in the sun. It was awful, so we decided to just go hang at the beach and pool and try and cool off. Seriously...melting. I am so glad I got my hair cut before this trip though, long hair would've beaten me. And the cruise people had left the area so it was back to being wonderful again. Sun seems much more intense down here and of course I am now offically DARK. So sorry folks, not much in the way
of gifts this vacation.
Open
We took the long steep hill back to Smuggler's for dinner and didn't miss it this time. We heard their jerk wings were the best so we got those and an order of lobster nachos. Both were delish. Sun and sea tends to take it out of you...so tired at the end of the day. Getting dark at 7 doesn't help either.
Time to Go Home
Tomorrow is back home day. I hope Rusty hasn't forgotten us. Flight is at 12:45 so unless anything spectacular happens this is the last entry in the Roatan 2012 vacation. It was beautiful. We highly recommend.
