Buenos tardes from Flores, Guatemala!
My travels are just one sweaty blur but here goes.
I have several hours to kill now in a quaint little island village before getting, while still stinky, onto an overnight bus to Antigua Guatemala. Today was one of ītheīcentral america sights: Tikal. While they exagerated about the wildlife in the tour description, the ruins are very impressive.
I donīt think I saw the best of Mexico so thatīs still to be done another time maybe. We were welcomed to Belize with wishes for our being robbed and murdered which was a bit unfortunate! You do not want to get mixed up in the plitics of Belizean bus and taxi drivers , believe me (and our tour guide). We only experienced an island off Belize but it as a relaxing couple of days. The coral reef is the second longest in the world but Iīve certainly enjoyed other snorkelling experiences better. Still fun though.
Food has been a bit disappointing. My ability to sleep and eat, and to not get covered in bites and cuts and rashes and freckles and sunburn has also been a bit disappointing!
Eek! Time is up. Hope you are al enjoying the fact that you are (probably) not dripping sweat and covered in dirt! (Life is so tough for me! It is such a problem when the sound of waves gently crashing making you queasy is your biggest concern! Seriously, they were annoying me a couple of days ago!)
TRAVEL TIP: Aways have earplugs with you when travelling on Mexican/Belizean buses. The Gods Must be Crazy at extraordinary volume is just bearable, but The Gods Must Be Crazy 2 immediately following at said volume is less bearable and then a film of a play about african american nurses screaming at eachother about all manner of risque topics is really not bearable at all.
