So after catching up on emails etc yesterday i went for a walk around Florres it is so idyllic and i looked round the various souvenir shops for something to take home regarding my adventure in Central America, i saw a mayan print which when framed would be cool and would take like no space up in my rucksack so i may head back and get it tomorrow.
I bumped into Eric and Constantine the german couple and they suggested lunch at a place called casa amelia and so i went there and a veggie pizza and it was quite nice and fairly cheap, as i got there Eric and Constantine and some other travelers were finishing up and so i chatted to them and then they went to get other things done.
After the food i decided i would do some chilling out and i headed down to one of the piers and sat and watched the lake and some british guys were swimming and then they came out of the lake and we chatted about the US and South America and after a while grabbed a drink nearby, the guys were Lawrence, Matt and Mike.
After
a while they headed back to their hostel and i went to find a ticket agency and purchased a sunrise tour of Tikal, it included pick up and drop off and a guide and the entrance fee. it was 240 Quetzals which is about 40 dollars, sounds expensive but it was worth it.
Also i booked a shuttle to San Ignacio in Belize and that goes on Thursday and takes about 3 hours and i have to pay a 20 dollar entry fee to Belize and the shuttle cost 130 Quetzals.
I headed back to the hostel to check my washing and to write so postcards, my washing was done and i sat in a hammock enjoying the breeze and the view.
I then headed out to grab some food to make a breakfast/brunch for tikal, i got some nachos, more water and hot dog buns and american plastic cheese as they had no other cheese.
I headed out for dinner after that and went to a place called casa del chef and i had a wonderful veggie lasgna and fresh warm bread with it, it was bueno.
I then headed back and the german
couple told me they were on the same sunrise tour as me which was cool to know, i then packed my daysack for the next day and watched a little tv and then was to bed at 8pm, as i had to be up at 3.20am.....ouch.
Before i Knew it it was 3.20am and i was really tired and stumbled into the mircobus and few more stops and we were on our way to Tikal, it was dark and misty and we headed to Temple 4 and the were other sun rise groups there also, possibly 60 people all sat there awaiting the sunrise, when it started it was amazing howler monkeys started up and it sounded and looked like a scene from Jurrasic park, the mist feel and some of the temples rose up and then next the mist descended again and the sun rose and it was amazing, certainly if you get a chance you must do it.
Then the various guides took the partys away and our guide kept us there and explained the reason Tikal was sited there and explained about the Mayan cultual etc, he then took us through the ruins explaining
the history and other influences susch ast the Tultec and Aztec and advised temple 4 was used in the Return Of The Jedi Star wars film, he showed us various flora and forna and explained the propertys of the them and showed us bugs and at one stage i held a trantula he was a cool guide, i chatted with many people in our group, the was a kiwi guy Liam who is going to Antigua next and a freanch candian girl and two french candian guys and an english couple and some americans and so on and so forth.
by the time we were done it was 11 am and we were bused back to florres and i headed with Eric and Constantine to Cool Beans a little eatrie and had a coke and an egg and bean sandwich which was nice, we chatted and they go to Belize on Friday but to Belmopan and i got to San Ignacio.
We headed back to the hotel and i paid for another night as i check out at 7.30am and get to San Ignacio about 10.30-11am tomorrow, i showered up and washed some more stuff and im back on the internat uploading to picassa and checking emails and then ill be buying a souvenir and perhaps a pressie for my girlfriend.
