16.07.2009 Witch
Although I have five hours of private lessons every day and I was worried that they'd feel never ending, with my teacher Vivi they don't. We are having so much fun. She teaches me a lot but there is still space for telling funny stories or just acting stupid. Some days ago she announced that she's a witch and if I don't study properly (well, I really don't have time. I don't even have time to keep up with my travel blog) or if I don't pay good attention she'll have to turn me into a "rana". Because I didn't know what a rana (frog) was she drew me one.
This morning a beautiful green spider walked across our table. Vivi greeted it and introduced me to her student from three weeks ago. His name's Miguel and he's from Germany. She told me that he's a very lazy student and that he has to learn his irregular verbs before she's going to turn him back into a human. I asked her if he's good looking. I mean after all, Germany's not too far away from Switzerland right? She said "oh yes he is, but he's got a
Miguel...he still doesn't know his verbs
lot of girlfriends". Maybe not the guy for me after all!
We only had class until the break and then we were off to our weekend trip to Semuc Champey. Katrin and I got seats in the last row of the bus. In the leaflet it said that today we were going to travel 11 hours but fortunately we only spent about 8,5 hours on the bus. Somehow the ride didn't feel that long though. I enjoyed just sitting there and chat with Katrin or listening to music and watch the beautiful nature pass by.
We arrived in Cóban around 8pm. The one's who wanted could have dinner at the hotel restaurant but Katrin and I - well nourished with Pringles and chocolate milk we had on the bus - went straight to our room. We had a bungalow to ourselves. We have this tradition of reading Harry Potter together. We both read the German books alone and the English ones together. I told Vivi about it and she borrowed us the Spanish version of the second volume. How nice is that? We promised to read during the weekend in order to practice Spanish, so we got started
our very first evening on the road. Since we know the story well, our understanding is not too bad. But I don’t think my Spanish is good enough yet to read a book I don’t know. We didn’t read too long though because we felt really tired and were in bed by 9pm.
