I FINALLY GOT INTO MY OWN BLOG. I just sat here for probably about 10 minutes trying to copy and paste an at sign...
I am in joco now, using blancaīs laptop. Itīs a spanish computer and itīs very confusing. Blanca, brooke and I just got back from our weekend travel. We went first to panachjel, and then we decided to go to san marcos for the night, one of the more Ļhippieīī villages on lake atitlan. So we took a boat all the way across the lake, got to the hostel, and it was raining. So we just stayed inside for the night and left at 7 in the morning. The hostel was really funny, it had a tiki roof, one light bulb, and a bunch of beds in one room. Each floor was lofted. We were the only ones there though. It was maybe 5 dollars for the night, so no complaints there.
Today we went to the chichi market, the biggest market in central america, as I think I mentioned, and it was so crazy! Kids would come up to you asking you to buy their things and follow you around for a while until they would give up. One lady had a nice tapestry and I asked her how much it was (big mistake) and she told me 300 Q. There are 8 Q to the dollar, so maybe almost 40? I told her no gracias and she followed me around lowering the price for SUCH a long time. She followed us all the way around the market, we tried to go into a store, she waited for us outside, and she lowered the price to 60 by the end. Unfortunately I just didnīt need any tapestries, even if it was less than 8 dollars. I really like the other volunteers, so things here are really good.
