1: Supermodelo! 44 secs

For Mother's Day, which is actually celebrated on May 10 of every year, as opposed to second Sunday, Lucas and Grace's school put on a little show for us moms.
With a scheduled start time of 10am, the event started promptly at 10:45 or so, with a pretty entertaining performance by a nationally known singer, "Elisabeth." (Hey, she must be good: you can find her in Wikipedia, AND she's got only one name). She is a very talented performer of the old-school type: a sort of Edye Gormet sort of singer, and charmed the audience of several hundred women.
Then came the highlight for me, Lucas' debut as a supermodel! The school had decided to put on a fashion show. (How this relates to their education or honors their mothers, I'm not quite sure). He was chosen for his exotic looks, and his parents and sister gave him no end to the teasing about that. To really juice things up, he was also paired with a particularly popular girl in his class who I think managed to get his attention.
So for the week leading up to the show, he was taken out of school 3 different times
and brought to a local clothing store (owned by a school parent) to pick out his own clothes. Now, for anyone who knows Lucas, they will surely laugh out loud at the thought of him actually engaging at any level of the process of selecting his own clothes. I couldn't quite believe it myself until I saw him in some hipster-looking jeans and a button-down (yes, I said BUTTON-DOWN) shirt!
The fashion show had the theme of "Seasons," and Lucas was in the Winter part. This is particularly amusing as they had one little kid dressed up in a fur hat and scarf, in a country where the average winter daytime temperature is maybe 70-75 degrees. All the other kids wore (at most) long-sleeves to ward off those darned early morning chills of, oh, maybe 65 degrees.
When the Winter people started coming to the show, I positioned myself to take a video. If you click on the video above, you will see Lucas' performance, studiously avoiding looking at me, but smiling broadly when several of my gal-friends "whoop, whooped" him as he and his cute partner walked by. The choreographed "pause, twist, and look at your partner"
steps came out quite well. You may even hear me call out "hey there, handsome" but note that I did show terrific restraint by not pinching his tiny butt like I really wanted to.
