I am getting cabin fever! Will this weather ever clear up. We played dominoes, Mexican train this afternoon. Read, read...Boring. Cooked split pea soup and small individual pita bread pizzas for everyone. Wind has died down a bit. Waves are still up there. Spoke to a friend in Tortola yesterday, said she had same as here. We also had our burger night last night. For my son in law, Brian a couple of special ones, since he is the musician in the family. We were serenaded by a steel drum player. Burgers were good, real tomatoes this time. There had been a shortage of tomatoes for a few weeks. Here we are, rain, rain, wind, rain, wind...and on and on...We broke down this morning, ended up putting side curtains on the cockpit. Darn rain won't quit. I stuck new computer in garbage bag, and came up to Oasis. We have dominoes, books and Soduko with us. Looks like a crummy day. Yesterday afternoon Jeris and I went for a walk. Pete decided not to go with us. We rented a 4 wheel Susuki for a week. We went on the West side of the island,through the Carrenage, down the tunnel, and away we went. Downtown by the Carrenage, the streets are 1 way, we kind of got a lost, but then found our way, whew...On the way to Gueyave, some of the road was washed out, detours, and of course we went the wrong way, to end up in a dirt road, so we then knew we had made a wrong turn. We have been in Grenada almost 2 weeks. The 1st week went by rather slow, with boat in yard, and us having a cow waiting on them to paint the bottom. Finally boat went in the water last Monday at 1315, off we went to Clarkes Court Bay Marina. Tom and Jeris came in that night. Boat was a mess. Tuesday, Jeris AND I WENT SHOPPING, WHILE PETE AND TOM ASSEMBLED THE MAIN AND OTHER THINGS. We have rented a car for 1 week. We have been all through the island at our pace. Here we are, finally splashed the boat in this past Monday. We wanted 4 coats of paint, the kid they sent was a bit lazy. Very unusual for this marine service. Then Friday the yard mgr found out the kid only had done 2 coats, sloppily. What we did is we changed color so we can tell when the bottom needs to be done again. You could still see a lot of red in some areas. So the kid came back, discussed the situation with Mike, and was put to work again. He applied one coat in the am, and another [View Full Entry]

This is Spice Island Marine Services, where Paper Moon was haul out for 4 months. In order to be able to store more boats, they use this trailer like things. This morning went back to boat, supose to splash today. In the end we didn't. Too many things need to be done, between the heat and the fumes...things not getting done. We also wanted 4 coats of paint, it wasn't finished. Of course, they do not work Sat or Sun. The way of the islands... We were back early to apt, took a short break, heat is awful.
