San Miguel

We arrived in San Miguel, El Salvador on the 10th of October after about 12 hours of travel on a variety of buses and a taxi cab. We have been taking buses as often as possible because they are so affordable, so his taxi ride was unexpected. We were on a bus ready to ride to the Nicaraguan/Honduran border when the bus driver told everybody to get off the bus, there weren't enough passengers to make the trip profitable. So we got off the bus and jumped into a cab. Riding in the cab was the driver, four people in the back seat, Lisa in Valentin's lap, and a fellow in the trunk along with everybody's stuff. It was actually a really nice ride, the country near the Honduran border became very green and lush. We were lucky enough to catch a bus at the border crossing right to San Miguel where we stayed the night. San Miguel at night is very different from San Miguel in the daylight.

San Salvador

From San Miguel we caught a bus to San Salvador the cleanest of the capitals we have visited so far. The roads here are well kept and organized and we even traveled on a 4 lane highway for much of the journey. El Salvador uses the US dollar and seems to be econimically better off than Nicaragua. Items in the grocery are priced about the same as in the US.

La Libertad

We are staying at La Posada Luna hostel off of playa Tunco, a black sand beach. We hear there are surfable breaks all year round, and that is exactly what we intend on doing for a few days. We are going to go hit the beach and soak up some sun. Hope you are all enjoying the fall weather and happy and healthy. Pictures to follow.
