"The next day we went on a boat ride to see caves. It was a long ride but we saw birds and the beautiful view. The first cave we took tons of pictures. Sean lied and said there were bats but there wasn't. It was fun standing on rocks and posing for pictures. To get to the next cave my dad spotted a crab but I did not see it. Ahhh. We went to the second cave we stopped off at a little beach to eat our snacks and to put our feet in the water. We saw clams and tiny fish in the water. It was cool. After everyone agreed to go in the cave, we went into the cave. My dad gave me a little light so we could see. We went through different kind of holes to get to different parts of the cave. In one spot, we saw water because it was surrounded by the beach. It was fun. The boat ride back, was very bumpy. All my friends had put towels on their heads, but I did not. I was the toughest one. My dad that his eyes were on fire from the salt water when Me, Luna, Iliana, and Tatiana
Cueva Arena - Parque Nacional Los Haitises he sat in the back with Roy. My arms were tired from holding on to the boat so I wouldn't fall off. When we went under the bridge, we saw people jumping off. It was dangerous for them but they did it. Then we went to another beach which was really dirty and I did not like it as much as the first one but I like beaches. We saw pelicans diving in the water to catch fish. After the swim we went of the water and ate some yummy lobster. It was a huge lobster. Then we went back to the apartment and relaxed there.
The next day we were leaving the Dominican Republic. But we had to take the car ride back to the airport. And guess what - I did not count cars. It was fun on the airplane with my friends and I did not have to sit with my dad." - Sofia ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Daddy's Comments:
Another day in paradise, and we were off on a boat trip to Parque Nacional Los Haitises. We had our own boat for the group and it was about an hour boat
Cueva de la Linea
Parque Nacional Los Haitises ride across the Bhaia de Samana to the park. Roy and I in the back and all the others up front of a boat that probably was best for 6-7 but had all 9 if us plus 2 crew. Roy got soaked going but I was to get it going back. When we arrived we saw cool looking small islands covered with trees and lots of birds. The frigates where the favorites with their bright read pouch in the front. First stop was a cave, Cueva de la Linea. Really nice with a different entrance and exit site and some stalamites/stalactites. Sofia was searching for bats to no avail. Then another boat ride to a small beach where he had a bunch of snacks before checking out another cave.
The boat ride back was extremely choppy and both Roy and I thought that we might run at of gas, but didn't know there was an extra tank below. We got drenched in the back me more than him, and the salt water made opening the eyes almost impossible. Up front was choppy and occasionally would hear a little scream. But we made it back and instead of going back
to apt, we all went to a small beach with a little food shack. Sofia, Iliana and I hit the water, and then it was more food, and this time lobster. It was Sofia's favorite meal of the trip. Then back to the apt.
The following morning, and the day we were leaving, was key day for one of our future trips - the world cup in Brasil. It was the First Come First Serve part of the ticket phase. Sofia and I are going with Roy and his brother, so it was great that Roy and I were together for this. I had found a small café that would have wifi and available at 700am when tickets would go on sale. We had only been successful for one of our 6 attempts for tickets, a game in Fortaleza, so was really hoping to get at least 1-2 games. All started well as we arrived and while no one was there, the owner kept to his word of keeping the wifi on, and we had access to the Fifa site. However, after time in the "queue" when it seemed as if there were some tickets available to the games
The Group Shot
What a weekend that we desired, when we tried to purchase we would get the same "sold out" message. We were completely unsuccessful and returned to the apt after about 2 hours with no tickets. Oh well, there are 2 more phases and hopefully we will have better luck
It was a great 4 day weekend trip to the DR with friends. Sofia and I had a blast......Next trip - Italy and Slovenia for Spring Break (Sofia has been saying she has been "home sick") and then Brasil for the world cup this summer......
