Turks and Caicos … NOT
We had a surprise sea day. The winds were so strong that the Captain decided not to try to navigate the narrows. There was no way we could dock and a tendering operation was out of the question. The winds would not let the ship to maintain a safe position away from the reefs.
Headed for the aft pool, found a lounge chair and read for about an hour. Then a do it yourself taco, nacho lunch and a restful time in the shade on the Promenade Deck and decided it was time for a nap.
Found the message light on and needed to see the Front Desk. Straightened out a credit card problem, returned for my nap and had a message that the casino would be running a Hold ‘em Tournament. Nap --- Poker --- No contest. Played a cash game for a while and the cards were cold, cold, cold. The Tournament was starting when I had to go to the Front Desk to correct another wrinkle to the on going problem. By the time I returned the Tournament was almost over. I debated whether I should play.
Having nothing else pressing and not sleepy any more I sat in for a $40 buy in. When I walked away at 5:00 I had $185 in the bank. During the two hours of play I was down to $28 before I had a run of 5 winning hands, won a couple of big pots and then it was back to cold cards.
Quit while I was ahead, met Bill and Diana for a drink in the Crow’s Nest. We had dinner at the Lido. Nothing really appealed and I wasn’t really hungry so I made a lovely salad and that was great. Then it was ice cream and off to read in my cave.
I’m reading the Stieg Larsson book The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It’s a great read. I am really enjoying it and understand fully how folks say they couldn’t put it down.
It was a restful and profitable day. Tomorrow we moor at Samana, Dominican Republic, winds permitting, where I booked a sail and snorkel excursion.
