Easter in the Caribbean is different to what my children are used to. In England they had chocolate eggs from everyone, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends, work colleagues and sweet neighbours. We would hide them around the garden and they would search excitedly for them. They had so many we would eventually have to melt some down and make chocolate rice crispy cakes! So as Easter approached in the Caribbean and with the absence of chocolate Easter Eggs we had to come up with something that the kids would enjoy...... horse riding... hmm not what you would normally expect! The children spent the best part of the morning at Brandy Manor Equestrian in the care of Jasmin and Linton. Jasmin, originally from the UK moved to Dominica seven years ago and built one of the nicest guest houses we have discovered, it reminds me of my Uncle's cottage in Ireland, so welcoming and cosy. Jasmin used to ride for Great Britain and she is a qualified trainer. Her partner Linton from St. Lucia grew up with horses and has cared for them all his life. Both Jasmin and Linton are the proud owners of five beautiful and healthy horses. Ethan helped to
saddle "General" and Rhiann jumped straight on "Sensi". Watching them trot off into the peaceful forest and cross the river was truly beautiful. The kids never stopped smiling and when Rhiann said "oh, this is the life" I knew we had given them a great Easter treat. The kids are as we speak washing our neighbours car in order to help raise some money so they can go every other weekend, they even want to help clean out the stable, how great!
If anyone is interested in horse riding call Jasmin on (767) 612-0978 I can assure you, you will love it!
