So im having some issues typing this from my phone. Have had to split it in two. We enjoyed a better meal than we had eaten in Havana and Daz had his first lobster which he said was good. While this casa had a fantastic rooftop terrance and the family were really nice we were given a room with a bed that I think jesus himself made it was that old and lumpy. I slept on my towel I was that worried about bed bugs. Turns out I was just being dramatic and no itchy legs in the morning. Good news was they were booked for the next three nights so we were found another casa up the road and it was amazing! We were so much happier in Trinidad where the people were friendlier and it was much prettier. The cobbled streets and coloured buildings. We headed to the beach one day which is actually 15kms out of town but you can get a return bus ticket for $2. We spent the whole day there getting burnt and discovering the best icecream. All day workmen were sweeping up and taking away seaweed which we later learnt did not happen everyday
but a cruise ship was due in and so they were making it look pretty for them. The beach cabanas we think were for hotel guests but we scored one with comfy chairs and the lifeguard even did table service for a small tip so we had pizzas and beers for lunch.
That night we stayed up past out bed time to visit the cave discotech. It is a club inside an actual cave and was pretty cool. We had been told about it but to get there you have to walk up a hill on a dirt track that gives the impression you are walking the wrong way. Turns out that at 11pm we were a bit early so we headed back down the hill and came back at 12 when there were a lot more people walking up the dodgy track. I had another attempt to enjoy a cuban cocktail but they just taste like rocket fuel to me.
We booked a snorkelling tour which went from 9 to 4 including lunch and drinks all day out on a catamaran. Had perfect weather and got another hundred photos of fish underwater to go with the hundreds
from out Thailand snorkelling. I officially can still not snorkel much to Darrans embarrassment. Lunch was a fantastic Paella on an island covered with giant hermit crabs and iguanas.
After heaps more walking around Trinidad expecting a thong blow out any moment on the very uneven cobblestones we headed back to Havana. We drove through Australia but being 4 hours into a bus trip I wasnt game to ask the driver to stop so I could get a photo of the sign.
Back in Havana we spent a day walking up to Vedardo with the waves crashing over the wall. Finally discovered all the good eating spots are down the far end of thewalking street near any of the three plazas. Stay away from food places up the other end. Finished our trip enjoying Havana, loving Trinidad but ready to hit Mexico.
