hey ... sorry for the lack of punctuation. im using a weird foreign keyboard and dont want to take the time to figure it out.
after an almost cancelled flight due to an ice storm in dallas, i made it to warm and rainy san jose late thursday night. so far, its been a fun and eventful trip! yay, at least the ! key works! laura and james ceremony was one of the most beautiful and touching ones ive been to. at night, by candelight, surrounded by the jungle and their close friends and serenaded by the rapidly rising pacuare river. it really was very special and i am honored to have been witness to this special event.
the lodge was first class. i stayed in a private bungalo that was quite luxurious. the chef prepared 5 star meals! i ate quite well and that was a good thing as i needed all the energy for the paddle out the next day.
the next day was our first sunny day! yay! the rains had brought the river up quite a bit! victoria, it was a significantly different river than what we did a few years ago! much larger
waves and holes. my spanish phrase of the day was yelling at our guide, no mas huecos!!!! but he still kept taking us through them. i flipped alot! and was thoroughly exhausted at the end.
helpful kids at the takeout carried my boat and gear from the takeout. the lot of us drove back to san jose tired but happy. i left everyone at the nice hotels on the outskirts of town. i am now at a backpackers hostel in downtown san jose getting ready to embark on my journey to nicaragua.
must leave now and go in search of food. ill try and write again from ometepe!
hope everyone is well!
adios,
luanne
