Buenas tardes
Everybody should go buy some malaria tables and a plane ticket and go to La Fortuna in Costa Rica to see red lava boulders bouncing, and disintegrating, down the perfect volcano at night. And then you should all have the best vegetable sandwich in the world that is available there - of all places, I mean really, how cruel. Then you should sit on your hotel patio drinking almost undrinkable Cuba Libre from a can and watch the red glow fom the volcano crater all night. Perfect.
Other highlights include:
* being amid two groups of howler monkeys having a little tiff - branches were angrily snapped off and hurled
* white water rafting with a mischievous little Scottish guy in a kayak singing slightly risque songs in Spanish
* seeing sloths (though I didnīt manage to see one move)
* trying to swim into a rather large waterfall that hit into a quite small pool in a glorious forest (itīs really weird putting all your effort into swimming and not making any progress in a direction at all)
* cycling around Lake Nicaragua/Granada essentially without gears and only falling off once and nearly being run over by only two cars
* having fantastic chocolate dripping onto your hand fom a peanut butter and chocolate sandwch.
Quick lowlights list includes:
* a night of delirium and vomiting that meant I missed zip lining through forest
* a cold made a few days a bit grosser than ideal
* saying goodbye to wonderful people
* feeling guilty that I havenīt bought a single souvenir!
TRAVEL TIP: Never assume that asparagus soup isnīt just chicken soup with 1.5 cm of asparagus floating on top.
(Vegetariansm really does impact travelling but I donīt think that Iīve missed out on that)
