Itīs been a while and thereīs so much to update, I was supposed to stay in the jungles of Costa Rica for 10 weeks of voluntary conservation work but ended up escaping after 6 weeks following the second evacuation from camp due to flooding with water up to my chest and the threat of having a piece of me chewed off by the Caiman, but anyway that is another story to be told later.
So, safely back in San Jose I decided that I would spend the extra time I have going back south to Colombia for a month before heading north through Central America. It cost me $600 for a flight as all the Colombianos were heading home for crimbo but after all Iīve heard about the place I really wanted to go and the VISA card hasnīt had a good beating recently. With a week and a half before the flight I went off to see the sights of Costa Rica.
It feels great to be back on the travelling road again. First stop was La Fortuna to see Arenal Volcano, the volcano exists but not many people are lucky enough to see it as it is
usually shrouded by clouds but I must have hit the jackpot as I saw it in full glory with lava burtsing from the crater and flowing down the sides, spectacular!! To top it off, I went to Tabonaca hot springs for some R&R and it truly looked like the set of a James Bond movie, arrrrr bliss.....
Next stop was Monteverde, on arrival I was told there was a surprise birthday party for someone and so I surprised her by gatecrashing. It was all quite surreal as we trekked in the dark through a forest and in the middle of the forest was a little hut, and in the little hut lived a girl whose birthday it was. The next day, the 3 girls I met in La Fortuna rolled up and I went off on a cultural tour of an organic coffee plantation and then we all went zip lining. It was awesome, I want to go again. AFter that, it was time to leave the cool mountain air behind and we headed to the beaches of Santa Teresa. My 2 days planned there turned into 4, it was such a cool place. We whiled away the days on the beach, bombing around on ATVīs all the way to Montezuma, climbing up waterfalls and I watched the others jump off and I climbed back down after 30 mins of pysching myself up to jump, I am a chicken.
I finally reluctantly had to return to San Jose to catch my flight to Bogota, but managed to catch up with Elena and Jon from Cano Palma before jetting off in the morning. Good times.
