Busy October.....

Hi everybody,

Time flies.....so many things happened the last month, don’t know where to start....let me think !
Okay, first Kees went to a vanilla and teak plantation, up north close to Los Chiles. He went together with a guest who had invested in the vanilla. It was very interesting to see how they work there and to learn about vanilla. Everybody knows about teak, but not about vanilla. The plant doesn’t produce the beans until it’s three years old. It takes some time but it’s worth it. They got some beans as a gift, and boy do they smell great !

After that Kees and Gijsbert went to a small shampoo factory. Some women make it, and sell it to support themselves. Other people invested in the machine to make the shampoo and it’s working ! they have all different kind of types of shampoo and gel as well. We bought some to sell in our reception.

Also we are very busy with organising roud trips for the Holland Hotels Costa Rica group, of which we are also a member. So far, the new website (www.hollandhotelscr.com) is working great and we already booked 5 roundtrips in 2 months. Ofcourse we’ll get commission out of this, otherwise we wouldn’t do it, right ?

The animals are doing just fine, Chica is young so she’s running around all the time, with Lucky and or Pluto chasing her. That is so funny to watch....the run on the couch and chairs, hiding under the plaid, which normally is ON the couch.

We bought a new fridge, which is great ! the old one was using a lot of electricity we think and it was not practical. Sold the old one and als bought a sowing machine. Willeke went to San Jose to a big store where they sell all kinds of fabric...like paradise ! so the new machine was working overtime right away. It’s still working so that’s good.

Business was very very slow last month, due to the terrible weather in Guanacaste. A lot of rain, mudslides, houses and bridges under the water....not funny. So all the tourists went to the caribean side of the country, at least that’s our guess.....anyway we hope november will be a better month, just wait and see.

Kees made some nice furniture for a condo in Playa del Coco, he’s getting better at it and still gets some new orders, so we make some money that way. Which is very nice !

Dit is em dan, de shampoo machine, ziet er niet echt spectaculair uit, maar het gaat om het resultaat nietwaar ?

Flesjes Shampoo / Bottles shampoo
Hier staan ze te koop, de flessen shampoo en gel. Ook kleine verpakkingen te krijgen.

Badkamer kastje / Bathroom closet
Deze heeft Kees gemaakt voor een condo in Playa del Coco, altijd handig en weer es wat anders dan een tafel of bed...

Dit kun je geen kastje meer noemen, maar kast. Twee laden bovenin en onderin ruimte voor boeken of weet ik veel wat....

It's a big one, but nice. Two drawers at the top and a lot of space for books or things.

Nu is het aan de buitenkant duidelijk in welke kleur cabina iemand verblijft, toch ?
