We are back home after our 2 week trip to Holland and Las Vegas, Holland was cold and rushed, was great to see everyone even though there were quite a few short visits. We lost 2 days on trying to get everything ready to get Martin's drivers license in order. We thought Costa Rica was bad, but Holland loves paperwork as well!
After 7 days we left for Las Vegas to go to the DEMA show (dive show) We had a great show, loads of seminars, learned a lot and met a lot of new people. Always good for business 😊
Back home things did not run so smooth. Just before we left we had a group of about 100 divers and we were all exhausted. Our Dutch friends referred to as K.A.K helped us out a lot. K.A.K stayed in our house to take care of the zoo and keep an eye on the shop. Well this is where Murphy showed up! The credit cards were blocked so they had no money. No too much of a big deal seeing it was pretty busy in the shop, however, once a hotel wanted to
cancel the reservation for a group of 17 divers because the deposit could not be made.............panic striked! They tried to reach us, but did not get a hold of us for 2 days ( time difference and flight times) When they finally did, we spend about 2 hours and $200 on phone calls to solve the problem.
Then the internet dissappeared and my cell phone stopped working, it was with K.A.K and they tried a few pin codes to find out that the card was blocked, to make things worse, the water was shut off. All this was just an ordinary thing in Costa Rica and had nothing to do with paying the bills (everything was paid) but being on the other side of the ocean there was nothing I could do.
When we came back the internet was working, water problem solved but not the phone. After we dropped K.A.K at the airport we went to the phone company to hear after 2 hours that the "system was down" come back on Monday! I guess they never heard of an announcement or PA system???
Then my accountant came with a big tax bill, which swamped me in
work; Monday an appointment at 7 am in Liberia. Hope that is the last for this year, oh about the bank cards being blocked? I applied for a new card on the 3rd of November which arrived on the 5th. So after spending 3 hours at the bank I found out that they think I called on the 3rd to report my cards stolen. How can a card be stolen before it is even made??????
I think Murphy is gone, he stayed in Vegas with this guy who came to the roulette table and place $400 on 17 black; lost it all so he put another $400 on 17 black, lost again. $800 gone in 5 minutes. After he left the wheel went round and stopped on..............you guessed it right 17 BLACK!
$800 foetsie in 5 minuten.

Not to bad....
I think Brenda would do good on writing something Shakespeare like drama. There must be an award available for her somewhere. There also should be some awards for all the people who helped us out during these horrible hours. K.A.K., our staff, John from the Straydog, De Kersjes and last but not least de Geusjes from Zoetermeer. All of you guys, and the ones I forgot to mention, thank you so much for your help and support. You made our life easier. Martin van Gestel Rich Coast Diving Costa Rica
