Chalupayes. Its good. About the same in the states
Hello everyone. I am a litlte bored tonight so I thought I would update again and add the pics I put up the other day. Again, if update too much take yourself off the list and again, if u do this i will not be your friend :) Also you can get the link from the facebook site if you wish (that is for all you college folk who know what site that is...)
Oh I wanted to add alot of cool things I forgot from last time.
a) They do not like George Bush down here or Ronald Reagan for that matter (hmm I wonder why?).
b) I get hounded by every taxi driver b/c they think b/c i am american i need a taxi everywhere. Gringo is a word I hear alot.
c) Taco are not like tacos in the states they are more like "Chimichangas" (See pic) But they are hell-a-delicious
d) Chalupas here are like the states, but alot better and a litlte different (See pic). For a short history lesson--chalupas orginated I belive in San Salvador not Mexico. So the next time you are on a date and cant think of something to say..and
TacosLittle, smaller, different...
perhaps you are in a mexican restaurante bring up the above two facts. Tacos & Chalupas. I would also suggest bring up the fact that Penguins are largely a warm weather climate animal. "Hmm. I bet you didnt know that"-to quote Chris Farley.
e) Everyone here really does love salsa.
f) they have karoke here too. Mostly in Spanish
g) 80s music seems to be big here. I have heard Bon Jovi alot which pains me.
h) I know that Shakira's "hips don't lie." Man they play that out here more in the states. I have now been to Germany and they played it there everywhere~
i) Huevos (eggs) and Juevos (balls) are really easy to get mixed up in pronouncation. I gave the cooks a nice laugh! "I would like scrambled balls" if you are wondering what I said!
j) I get "hissed" at alot here. it really freaks you out at first but that is kinda like the equivalent of the whistle to a girl or guy in America. but apparently they do that to Gringos they find attractive. WHich i guess isnt that bad of a thing and builds the self-confidence. haha.
K) the coffee is amazing
here. I do not like straight coffee that much but i find myself able to drink it here.
Last night I went with Joaquin (his family, i.e., manages the place) to the beach to hang out with his friends. (he also went to UA for a year) I feel a little odd b/c his friends are around 19-23 but they were really nice. They were hanging out having a few beers and playing guitar among other things. His friend owned a house/cabin near the beach. However, he said tha we could not go to the beach by ourselves at night unless a bunch of them went b/c of safety reasons. Apparently its dangerous at night b/c of the druggies and hoodlems. Or can be at least. Anyways. Alot of them knew some english. They were sitting around too and singing (and playing) alot of Subllime. Funny that they loved this album and new everyword. This album perhaps is one of the most lasting albums of our time. I would probably put it up there as a close second behind Pearl Jam's Ten. 30 years from now your kids will be singing that album around a fire or at

a beach somewhere. It was fun. I got back late last night and have not caught up on sleep yet.
Speaking of Pearl Jam...a couple from Seattle were waiting over for their bus in the hotel restaurante here. I told them that Seattle is my Mecca considering Pearl Jam is from there and I wanted to see a show there. She told me that her best friend babysits the Eddie and his wife's child. No crap. She said she started babysitting their manager's kids at first and that now she has created a nice business. She said that he was also a rally nice guy and had met them herself. JUst funny. I asked her if I could get that babysitting dig or perhaps some tickets! haha. But just random.
Oh, I got the job. They never said hey you have the job but they are having me come into the classes to observe this week. Today i went and observed one of the teachers. To be honest I was not that impressed with the teacher in the session. IN the smaller session (2 students) he was much better but his command of the classroom was not that well and

he would not let the students speak which really pissed me off). Anyways. I am suppose to teach or help teach on Friday for an hour. I am a bit nervous but i am teaching on the "future tense" so I should be ok. See let me show you how good I am with the future tense... "I will not have diarrhea while I am down in Costa Rica" (There is your update Chris and Greg). haha. Anyways. We will see how that goes. I think I can do well at this. I helped some today in the small session and the "kids" really appreciated and I could see they learned from what I explained.
Well that is about it. I miss Sam a lot and talk to her via the net almost every day or the internet phone so that is cool. I hope this school thing takes off and I can meet more people. I will probably not post until the end of next week after the starting of the festival.
Enjoy the pics...
