This was a day full of interesting mishaps. I tried to get into the water today but this didn't really seem to work out. After spending about 30 USD on some snorkel gear, I trekked to the beach only to find that the equipment would not work. Of course the mask would not seal to my face and in fact actually leaked like crazy. After that the strap broke, and then a piece of the mask actually broke off. If that wasn't enough, the breathing tube thingy was leaking as well. Unbelievable. Tour guide Sebastian had bought a pair of goggles [View Full Entry]

Snorkel Destination
Tender LineUp

Well, I thought I'd use this opportunity to post some of my Grand Cayman pics for those of you who haven't seen them yet - enjoy! It was a great week of snorkelling every day, swimming, reading, playing beach volleyball, and sampling the nightlife. The first picture is a bit of a map to show you where we were...the "dive site" is where we jumped in from the Burger King parking lot and swam out for 10 minutes - it was the most amazing coral reef we saw (and people were paying $40 to get out there), can you imagine ever [View Full Entry]

A few of us entered a team in a volleyball tourney and we ended up winning the B-side. This tournament was held at public beach where 3 nets were set up on the beach. Great way to spend a Saturday. [View Full Entry]

Brett Oland decided to move back to Alberta, so we had to send him off in Cayman fashion.....A sting ray city & Kiabo boat trip. We got about 100 people together and the pictures tell the rest. [View Full Entry]

I was supposed to head out for a little snorkelling adventure but the safe in my room would not open to get my passport. By the time I got it open -- no kidding with a Fonzie punch -- I had missed my tour, so instead I just travelled the island and then met up with the girls on the deck later. It had been quite a long time since I visited the Cayman islands so it was a real blast from the past to rent a scooter and head out on the island that I was once so familiar [View Full Entry]

My Uncles Reg and Barry Hunter, Aunties Heather and Marie and my two cousins Logan and Spencer were supposed to have a day stop in Cayman on March 1 while they were passing by on a cruise ship. But to make a long story short there ship never ended up docking in Cayman so they never made onto the island. That sucked, i was looking soo forward to seeing them - Damn cruise line hey Reg! However, before i knew they were not going to dock in Cayman i chartered a Sail Boat to take them out to String Ray City [View Full Entry]

I had never gone horseback riding in my life, but we found a place to go on one part of the island (Westbay). I really enjoyed and have gone a few times. You basically ride along the beach, a great view. Sunshine wanted to go parasailing so i decided to tag along. It was amazing to see the island from 400ft in the air. I was not completely comfortable at the start of the ride (terrified of hieghts and all), but Sunshine - she was loving it up there and she was rocking back and forth and leaning back with no [View Full Entry]

Basically a run across the island. 6 of us. There was a 36km relay race with a 6 member team. It started on the far side of the island (eastend) and went across most of the island. The race was a pretty early start (hence darkness in first few pic's) so that we could be finished at a decent time before it got hot outside later in the morning. It was a lot of fun and i think we finished in the middle of the pack with our time. Our team consisted of 3 South African's, 2 Canadians, and 1 Argentinian. [View Full Entry]

I have an acquaintance who scuba dives. To hear him describe the activity and characters that live beneath the sea is true poetry. After our trip to the Everglades, we went to Captiva and then on to Key West, a grueling schedule as I am sure you can imagine. Once that leg of our journey was completed, I traveled to see my friend in Grand Cayman. Everyone should travel to the Cayman Islands! You don’t go to Grand Cayman to see the architecture, the landscape or the tourist attractions. In fact, hurricane Ivan destroyed much of this beautiful Caribbean Island. Grand [View Full Entry]

I planned on laying low for my bday, however, a couple people decided that was not going to happen. I think it was Jon, Yachy, Nadine and Erin that planned for a surprise party for me. First they had a dozen or so people show up at my house and they all brought food and we had a BQ and cake. It was great. But as you can see by the flames on the cake i am getting up there years, argh. Then we all went to senior frogs and there was a crap load more people waiting there to drink. [View Full Entry]
